A relaxing weekend in Umbria, Italy
Anyone looking for a holiday immersed in relaxing, combined with taste and art is the answer to Umbria, a region rich in vegetation but also of history, where kindness is at home. The weekend spent in Umbria was very nice, thanks to what I have discovered a region that I knew could offer so much. I invite all those who have not yet done so to visit it because it you would be amazed, also people are very kind and heart.
We stayed in a great hotel (3 ***) at Assisi, with affordable prices and excellent cuisine. If you go to Umbria you can not taste the wonderful cake to the text, can be found anywhere because it is a typical dish of the region. I can say that compared to other famous cities around Perugia and has reasonable prices, then buy a simple gift will not cost you as Venice or Rome. But if you buy handicrafts such as ceramics, which are very famous in those parts, or you will find many shops selling drove out many details (especially in Assisi), then prices rise dramatically. But there are also shops of traditional products, such as wine, cheese and cured meats that are really good.
Our journey began very early, the first stop of the day: Gubbio with the visit of the Palazzo dei Consoli placed in the center of the country and one of the main attractions, a short walk to city center and visit the basilica of S. Ubaldo reached by cable car, where candles are kept for the famous race of the candles (15 May) at the death of St. Ubaldo. In poreggio visit the famous Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi, the destination of many pilgrims, our tour continues in the historic center. Continuing our visit, we find the Rocca Maggiore, the medieval castle where you can admire a fantastic view.
Our day begins with a visit to Perugia where we can admire the Palazzo dei Priori with the Fontana Maggiore, the Etruscan and medieval walls. During the afternoon we move towards Terni To see the Niagara Falls, there is a path from Which you can see the falls from different angles. During the evening stroll in Spoleto.
