Was so much that we wanted to visit Verona, as all we had heard much, but then for one reason or another we are never able to leave. When Giancarlo told me that this weekend will organize everything for me in four and quattr'otto our flight.
In these times, my most trusted ally is the internet, I do not know really what to do if there were, I immediately discarded the idea of staying in Verona for the hotels are really expensive and our budget is limited, then take into consideration ' idea of staying out of town and that was how we found accommodation in Vicenza, which is cheaper and has the merit of being a half hour's drive from Verona: Hotel Aries, 2 steps from the shopping palladium and a quarter 'hours' drive from the center of Vicenza.
We arrive in Verona to the lunch hour and immediately raises the need to find a place to eat, the choice was completely random, we stopped along the road at a restaurant in a chain tex / mex and we have made lead 2 steaks with vegetables. I must say that despite the very environment MacDonald's, the steaks were tasty and the bill affordable.
Comodomante the car parked near the arena in Verona, Arena Parking, and we dive immediately into visiting center storico.Il first impact with the city and the arena, an ancient amphitheater that goes back to Emperor Augustus, is very beautiful, many tourists are lining up to be able to see inside, we will not dwell too much because we promised to return this summer to attend one of the many concerts of classical music. The old town is tidy and clean, full of shops also known brands. Our visit continues with a visit of Juliet's house, I must say that I liked a lot, not so much for the home and for all pairs of lovers I've seen you a visit http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Via_Cappello
Very beautiful also Piazza delle Erbe and piazza dei Signori, the arches and the tower of the Lamberti Scaligere whose summit you can see a beautiful panorama of the city.
Because of the limited time available we visited only two of the beautiful churches of the city or the Duomo and the church of St. Anastasia, withdrawals from which we enjoyed an 'inevitable romantic stroll at sunset along the banks of the Adige. Now it's dark we return to the car and left for Vicenza, easily find our hotel http://www.arieshotel.it/ita/index.php and since it is still early c 'walk down the mall Palladio very impressive, despite missing still 2 months to Christmas, it's all decorated for festa.Torniamo at the hotel tired and hungry, give us time to freshen up and we were ready for dinner. The hotel has a restaurant but we do not like to eat at the hotel and then take the car to find a typical restaurant: We must not get very far quickly found a restaurant where we were well http / / www.ristorantegiulia.it/.
The next morning alarm clock in the morning, Vicenza awaits ..!!!
I must say that if, at first, we thought Vicenza as a secondary goal, we had to change his mind.
The first appointment is with the tourist information point, just outside the gate of the Olympic Theater, here we give you a nice map of the city and gain the Vicenza card that allows us to visit many museums to visit is the first price vantaggioso.Naturalmente the Teatro Olimpico, a precious work of Andrea Palladio. Palladio was a great architect and designer he designed numerous houses and work and especially left an 'indelible mark on this city like the Palladian Basilica, the palace and the Rotunda Chiericati http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villa_Capra_detta_la_- Rotunda. After admiring the theater we go to the nearby palace Chiericati mentioned as well UNESCO, home to an 'important and valuable art gallery http://www.museicivicivicenza.it/it/mcp/index.php.
After these first 2 visits take the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful buildings you remember ever having visited the palace Montanari http://www.palazzomontanari.com/stampa_scheda.asp?- q_idsch = 2, it is really beautiful, there would be sorry to miss it a lot and recommend a visit to everyone.
The visit of Vicenza is very challenging, there are many things to see and we do not want to miss even one.
These days there is the exhibition of Palladio and the Visitation, the show is really well done and is explained in a straightforward way that even us who are outsiders fail to understand the genius of a man who scored with a simple shocking insights , a 'full time and has put its name as synonymous with architecture, designed by Andrea Palladio, the real name was Andrea di Pietro from Gondola, has designed and built an infinite number of villas nestled in Veneto and several bridges including the Bassano's famous bridge and all this to the beginning 25 years before was the stonemason, ie at an age that at the time, artists were established and some already in decline.
After the show we go to the streets of the lords to be able to admire the Basilica and the Loggia del Capitano, unfortunately there is scaffolding but it is not difficult to imagine the beauty of this' work of which the inhabitants of Vicenza are so proud. The afternoon instead we allow ourselves for lack of time, the visit of only 2 of the most prestigious villas in the area is full, we choose the most famous of Palladio, which is the Villa Rotonda and Valmarana, called the Dwarves.
The admission of the Rotunda frankly a little expensive, 10 euros per person without any type of discount, but the villa is unique and deserves a visit, take a left deviation shown near the entrance of the Rotunda, and after a pleasant walk of about a quarter of an hour, we arrive at the villa of the dwarves http://www.villavalmarana.com/ The villa is famous for the frescoes of Tiepolo Giambattista and Giandomenico, father and son is lovely but not as beautiful as the round, it might be that this painting is not among our favorites, we like more the Renaissance, but it was still nice to take a stroll in the gardens at sunset and watch closely the dwarves, a series of small statues placed throughout the perimeter above the wall, and track their legend is told in the past in the villa had been segregated a princess, this time bad but so bad that, not to make her feel different and suffering, she was assigned a court of deformed dwarfs. There was a beautiful day when a gentleman introduced himself, without being stopped by the dwarves, this time the knight kissed the princess, came only to see from you, realizing that its ugliness committed suicide. As punishment, the dwarves were petrified.
The day was long but we still want to go home, then we decided to conclude this short vacation with a side trip to Bassano del Grappa.
We arrive in late afternoon, there is much life on the streets despite the cold, no matter where shops and distilleries grappa, we buy the famous, they say, Tagliatelle, a typical local liqueur.
Unfortunately due to time we allow ourselves just a walk in the historic center and the only thing we see is the famous covered bridge of the Alps, the Palladium. We conclude the evening with a dinner at a restaurant in Bassano, a very nice where we ate really well (trattoria el Piron, via B. Zaccaria 12).
So, finally, our trip has come to an end ...
