Starting point for our excursions in Umbria Perugia but was strongly advised not to those who were planning a vacation in this beautiful region as restrictions on traffic in the center are very strict, and then are added to the already high costs of a accommodation in the center, one of those awkward parking (to get from parking in the center must go through the long escalators and the stroller is closed every time we had a pass just to get the car to our office on the day of arrival and departure was not a poblema for a couple but for those traveling with children and babies accompanying kit can be !!!).
Umbria is a beautiful, green region rich in history, we have turned the precise without an itinerary and I must admit it was very funny. First leg of our holiday in Umbria was Spanish, the city on Sunday a few miles from Perugia. The city on Sunday is a great amusement park for families, Matthew has enjoyed a world and us with him. http://www.cittadelladomenica.it/home.php. The next day however we finally visited Assisi is really beautiful and alone worth the trip here. I will not elaborate on the beauties of this wonderful city because a simple enough guide but I would say that Assisi is much more than what is advertised, to realize we must live it ..... I would advise you not to limit your visit to the church but only if you have some time visit the hermitage of prisons and porziuncola in Santa Maria degli Angeli.
the third day but we dedicated to visiting Perugia that is a very beautiful and full of things to vedere.Iniziamo our tour with the gallery at the Palazzo dei Priori Umbria nation with many valuable works of our renaissance and only! We go for a walk in Corso Vannucci, the main street of the old town overlooked by some of the most beautiful buildings in the city (do not forget to drop in the oldest patisserie in Perugia, pastry Sandri) up to the largest fountain, a marble masterpiece the medieval period. Perugia is a very lively city, full of young people as a place of very prestigious university! Not far from downtown (by car) you can visit the underground tomb of an ancient underground Volumni Etruscan necropolis located in the Palazzone.
The next day we move to Gubbio, which has become famous not only for the traditional feast of the candles but to be the location of fiction Don Matteo! After parking the car the road that will lead us to the palace and consuls general to visit the center is all uphill, Gubbio we have very good memories tied to 'wine and food because we think it is right there in the restaurant where we ate better in our lives that signal much volentiei RESTAURANT TO CROSSBOW downtown, my husband still remembers the delicious wild boar to be good and I realize that the Genoese was very very and I repeat very honest view of all the local delicacies that we tasted many of them made with truffles. After lunch we take the road to Urbino, was indeed a long time we wanted to visit the Ducal Palace, which houses the National Gallery of suffered Marche.Urbino we like so much, the only negative is that the weather deteriorated and it started to rain so we could not visit the center as good as we wanted! We can still visit the cathedral but not the house of Raphael that we would have liked to see! Patience will return! We are pleased to be able to visit the Doge's Palace and in general this unscheduled visit.
Fifth day of our holidays are about to end and we still have many things to see's visit today, but first we stop at Spoleto Spello, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy where in Santa Maria Maggiore are preserved some valuable works of Pinturicchio painter who meet again in the Cathedral of Spoleto (Chapel Eroli) few hours later.
The Cathedral of Spoleto is really impressive is unthinkable not to include in our tour. http://www.artstudio.it/Spoleto/index.html nature even the old town is full of valuable works, but certainly what we have been most impressed is Santa Maria Maggiore (Duomo) and the crypt of Isaac and of course to the 'very good oil that is produced in the surrounding countryside. On the way back we stopped in Deruta, famous for its ceramics in the world whereas I exaggerated a passion for this kind of objects!
In our wandering we could not forget Umbria Orvieto, a city perched on a tufa famous for its magnificent Cathedral of Saint Patrick's well and good wine! But we came on the day of departure as we often in our travels we approaching a stop before our return home we will visit as well as something new to rest before resuming his way home. This time the stage of our approach is really beautiful city Arezzo, you should not miss the Basilica of San Francesco with the legend of the True Cross fresco by Piero Della Francesca and the Duomo. Arezzo is liked we wanted to visit Cortona but time as always tyrant did not have permission but as always I say we have the excuse to go back maybe when the baby will be bigger!
