Spend a weekend in Val di Chiana is seeking a mental and physical relaxation without precedent. The landscape that this part of Tuscany has to offer to our eyes are likely to be a tranquilizer for our minds. If you are tired and depressed by life, my advice is to spend some days in this beautiful area, rich history and quality of life.

In particular you want to report a Medieval Village, the small village of Trequanda, in the province of Siena. To reach this village, take the Highway exit Val di Chiana. Then you must go to Sinalunga (about ten kilometers from the gate) and then follow the signs to Trequanda (about 7 km from Sinalunga).

The Village is now in all its charm. Perched on a hill 460 meters above sea level, the country has ancient origins: the Tower of the Castle dates back to 1300 or so. Inside the Village all seem to have stopped 500 years ago: everything is perfectly integrated, the houses within the walls are perfectly preserved, even if at the time of our visit to the interior roads were rough because of the work of pipes 'water.

On the main square, in addition to the bar, all'edicola and the post office there is the inevitable subsidiary of Monte dei Paschi. But what is striking is the state of preservation of the ancient church of St Peter and Andrew, where inside there are the remains of the Blessed Bonizzella. The village celebrates in May of each year the blessed, with a procession through the streets of the country, for the occasion covered with flower petals in May and rose.

In the village there is one place to eat, the restaurant Conte Matto. Offers Tuscan cuisine much sought after, with a very extensive wine cellar and differentiated. You can sample local foods and local wines, do not forget that we are in the area of Chianti DOCG. Prices are not from "inn" but the quality of food offered is exceptional.

Just outside the village, near the barracks of the Carabinieri, there is a shop where you can buy all the products typical of the Chianti region, from wine to oil, organic jams from Chianina meat. I forgot to tell you that the flag is Trequanda orange olive oil, flagship of this area, besides the excellent wine.

To purchase these products, in addition to the above mentioned shop, I point out the Consortium of Cariplo (owner of much of the area of production of oil and wine). Before reaching the village about 200 meters before the crossroads for Asciano, turn left and find the Consortium. E 'open for the sale of all products. You will find truly spoiled for choice ... and if there happen during the "Cantine Aperte" ... then cercatevi also a good farm because you are not able to finish the tour guide to wine tasting!
For sleep you many opportunities to farm. They are very comfortable, with swimming pool and many facilities but very expensive. Depends on the season but not easily troverte rooms at less than € 150 to arrive at € 500 per night! If you do not have these available (as most people!) Then you must settle for rooms to rent in the village, which start at prices of € 50 per night. Bath linen and clean ... what more to ask for a room?

If we pass the summer there is also a swimming pool (admission € 6) and a tennis court. Many foreign tourists flock to these areas in the summer: there vegono German, British and Dutch who love this land and its flavors.

Around Trequanda you can make beautiful walks: get in the zone "in" the Village, to the old "Molino a Vento" where there are villas immersed in greenery, or decide to take a trip on foot along the many paths that climb in woods around.
There are many farmhouses that have been used to farm, bought by tourists or businessmen who have decided to leave their city for gray trasferisri in this corner of paradise.

If you can, around Trequanda there are many things to see and do: a trip to Montalcino, Bagni Vignoni, all'Abbazia Monte Uliveto or go to Siena (50 Km). Other trips are interesting from the eastern part of the area or the Lake Trasimeno or Arezzo. Oh yes, because the position is rather Trequanda strategically located close to many places and you can easily visit many places in the vicinity of characteristic Umbria.

The Village is equipped with a http://www.comune.Trequanda.si.it/ website where you can find many useful information.
In addition, the hospitality of Trequandini content do not you ever feel out of place. There is also an office of the Pro Loco with lots of information on fairs and festivals in countries near and with the routes of the Nature Train.

Noi ci siamo trovati benissimo. And we certainly will return again to enjoy the full hospitality and admired the beauty of these lands. If you want more info, write me as well!
Hello and good trip
