Arrived in this region ferry from Calabria to Messina, continue by car up to Lineup Zanclea where I was staying in a small hotel just steps from the beach. The day after and on to the south via the east coast resorts such as Ali Terme and Roccalumera reach Taormina. In the heart of this charming town you can not enter with your own means that you leave in a large covered parking area and drive in shuttle. Taormina is very characteristic with its roads surrounded by shops where you can find everything from baby, to the tambourine, the miniature Sicilian cart. The real highlight of the city is of course the greek theater, still used for performances, which offers a splendid panorama of the sea and Mount Etna. Continuing south I did a brief stop in Giardini Naxos to find a girl he met in Romania but not found. Shortly after deviavo inside to go up the first slopes of Etna and stop at Zafferana Etnea to see an old lava flow that destroyed parts of the country. Back on the coast to Acireale and from there I went to Acicastello Aci Trezza and then park at the port of Catania where a ship would take me to Malta.
Back from Malta plane landed at the airport of Catania and from there get a ride to the port where I had left the car. The next morning I went on to the historic center of Catania in haste to visit the Piazza del Duomo with the famous fountain of the elephant and then I was going to Syracuse. Came to the city of Archimedes visited the archaeological excavations of the Greek Neapolis which among other things, an amphitheater, the Arena and the famous ear of Dionysius, a crevice in the rock where the voice echoes in particular. From here transfer along the island's interior, where, after crossing steep mountains, stay in a motel near Lercara Friddi. The day after I reached Prizzi passing close to Corleone, a town that does not have anything special except the fact of being the home to major Mafia families. From here through Piana degli Albanesi placed in a really great to go to Monreale to see the exterior of the famous cathedral unfortunately without entering the Moorish cloister. From here continue to Palermo, where I visited a doctor who had been in the military with me after which I visited the old city with its beautiful cathedral and the "Four Corners", a typical intersection with houses blunted by monumental temples. Do not miss to taste the delicious Sicilian arancini and cassata, two regional specialties. Leave Palermo passing in front of the Teatro Massimo and the promenade in the evening I came to Cefalu received from a buddy where I came from the time of the military. After placement in a beautiful hotel I was invited by him to a pizzeria for dinner with his family and some friends. Before going to sleep my friend took me to see the Cathedral Square illuminated. The next day with him still in the old town, caught between a rocky hill on which there is a fortress and the sea. Cefalu is very nice, its beautiful Norman Cathedral, its narrow streets, the narrow views that lead to the picturesque cove, alternating sand cliffs, where they moored the goiters of fishermen. I leave Cefalu, which I enjoyed very much to reach Milazzo where I leave the car to board the ferry to the Aeolian Islands. Landing in exchange for boat to Lipari and Stromboli. Arrived on the island find accommodation in a town house near the harbor and then with a path going towards the slopes of the volcano. The way I say it is long so I will confine myself to observe the small island just off the coast of Strombolicchio. Return to the country where the streets are so narrow that a car could not go, the locals get around in small trucks and mopeds. After overnight I take the first ferry to Lipari. The boat turns around the island and stops at Ginostra, the other center of Stromboli reachable only by sea but where there is no marina so the ferry to anchor off a boat and take passengers and goods that must down. The ferry stops at Panarea Lipari then changed to Vulcan. This island is fascinating, a few steps away there are the pools of boiling water and an excursion of an hour to get on top of the volcano and descend into the crater. We return to the marina and take the first ferry to Milazzo, here I take the car to reach Messina where I board for Calabria.
Before this tour I had been two other times in Sicily in the company of a fellow cameraman, three days, staying at Shereton Hotel in Catania as a reporter to comment on a competitive gymnastics after an international week for Mazara del Vallo Italian Championship of fencing. At the last opportunity to visit the Greek temples of Selinunte, Segesta and the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. The Valley of the Temples is actually a hill where are located a number of temples in Magna Grecia.
