Incredible wonders of Valle d'Aosta region, in the extreme northwest of Italy
This week has been, as you can imagine, to 'teach the hiking, the natural beauty and good food. It 'a very beautiful region, the only downside are the prices very often exaggerated! Be careful along stretches of highways Valdostane, somo dear. The restaurants were often beyond our reach and we have a little 'arranging due.
The paths are unfortunately often reported bad, so it is essential to a detailed map!
In Courmayeur recommend the restaurant "Le Vieux Pommier" (Piazzale Monte Bianco 25), the prices are in line with the area but we ate very well. Another unexpectedly good restaurant we found in Bard: "Henri Beyle Restaurant Bar" (Piazza Cavour).
In the village of Saint Pierre is a typical Supermarket where we bought cheese, salami and liquor to take home.
As for the nights we were pretty well: -three days we stayed at the Hotel Meublè Emile Rey (The Saxe-Courmayeur) is located in a very picturesque town and the staff is very kind. -one night we stayed at the Bonatti Refuge, located in localities Malatrà and can be reached with an hour and a half walk from Lavachey. Sleep in the hut is an experience that advice, we were enchanted! -the last three days we spent in Aosta at the B & B Augustus, because it is convenient located in the center, however, is only one room in an apartment building and the breakfast must be made at the bar with a voucher.
During our stay in Courmayeur we took the cableway up to the Mont Blanc du Midi Aguille (cost too much but the view is spectacular!). Aosta there seemed nothing but being centrally located is an excellent starting point for day trips: we have been in Cervinia, Fenis Castle, in the Gran Paradiso National Park. Before returning home we did stop at the (beautiful) Bard.
