Sant'Oronzo the cave is the second largest church in Turi. It was erected in the first half of '700, the will of citizens and monks of the local Franciscan monastery, after the discovery of the cave, which took place in 1658, where legend has it, the bishop of Lecce Oronzo fled to escape persecution of the Romans.

Recently restored, the church has three naves, at the bottom of which there are as many altars.

Imposing the staircase that leads into the cave below, where you find an altar and a beautiful carpet of majolica tiles.

In this enchanting setting were held readings of the Divine Comedy much followed by a teacher from Bari.
For those who want to reach the cave near the local cemetery for SS100 Turi about one km after the town center follow the signs is open every first Sunday of each month and for the last fortnight of August
