The Gravina di Laterza canyon is the most imposing of a system of ravines that are distributed in a fan around the Gulf of Taranto, forming together a real system, called ravines dell'Arco Jonico. Included in establishing the Regional Park of ravines Jonico, the gravina of Laterza extended for 800 hectares, already IBA and SPA (special protection area) and p-Sic (proposed Site of Community Importance) is a canyon 12 km long, 500 meters off deep and 200 meters. Many of the endemic flora is often characterized by the presence of species Trans. Capovaccai, Lanari, Nibbi Grillai and brown, all breeding, guarantee, together with many other species of animals with a natural environment unique and fascinating.
The Oasis is Oasis LIPU since 1999 and has a modern visitor center, trails equipped, and qualified personnel that takes care of its protection, its use and teaching environment. We have not made a thorough tour because of bad weather but we want to return during the beautiful spring days.
