You can not see Florence in one day, there are too many wonders of this magnificent city, but the memory remains in my heart and also the photos help to refresh the memories waiting to come back and review everything once again ...
World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO in 1982, the historic center of Florence, concluded within the circle of the old paths viali medieval walls, collects the most important cultural heritage of Florence. Bounded by the alignment of the walls of the fourteenth century, built thanks to the power of trade and economic reach, experienced in the two centuries after its peak.
The old town can be appreciated in its entirety from the hills around, especially from the Forte Belvedere, from the Piazzale Michelangelo with the Roman basilica of San Miniato al Monte and the hills of Fiesole, which offers one of the most dramatic sights of the valley ' Arno.Il Arno river, which passes through the old part of town, occupies a place in the history of Florence at par with the people who live there. Historically, the local population has a love-hate with the Arno, which led either the benefits of trade, and flood disasters. One of the bridges, in particular, is unique: the Ponte Vecchio, characteristic for the multitude of shops built upon esso.La architectural jewel of Florence is the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, known simply as "the Dome". The magnificent dome was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, and the nearby campanile by Giotto. The adjacent Baptistery is remarkable, with the bronze doors made up of panels, which draw trilobal Ghiberti in the 1401 competition which saw participants even as Donatello and Brunelleschi. Of note is the church of Santa Maria Novella and Orsanmichele.Il city's historical center is closed to traffic, except buses, taxis and residents possess the appropriate permesso.La city is served by two motorways, the A1 and 'A11, which links to the Tuscan coast and the northern and southern Italy. Moreover, in addition to state and regional roads that join the rest of Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, the city is connected by two highways at Siena and the lower Valdarno to Pisa and Livorno.
