Sea, sea sea ... Sardinia is mostly blue sea, pristine bays, coastal changing continuously from high cliffs to long flat beaches, crowded places and angles yet deserts. With a constant feature: a magnificent sea as places assume different colors and transparencies.
Model on the tour in Sicily, even here we did the full tour of following up the coast, with departure and arrival at Olbia, and with one week devoted to relaxation at the seaside resort of Cala Gonone, which allows you to discover some of the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches of the island, reachable only by sea, and to appreciate the inner being close to the characteristic Barbagia.
Besides the beaches, there are historic sites and landscapes that are worth visiting: the Barbagia precisely, the city of Cagliari, the ancient ruins of Nora and Tharros, Bosa Marina, Alghero (the most fascinating), Castelsardo and La Maddalena.
In principle, the north is the most popular, the south offers the best beaches, the west coast is still wild and almost untouched.

2nd day: Olbia - Cala Gonone

In the morning, landing at Olbia, and immediately starting searching for the first beach to recover from the trip. Few kilometers and you in San Teodoro, where there are many wonderful beaches. We opt for those of Tahiti and Isuledda.
Tahiti really reminds Polynesia, with incredible nuances in the background and a dense vegetation that reaches the sea. The Isuledda remain one of the finest in Sardinia, with a blue sea and a splendid on Tavolara panorama.
Do not miss La Cinta, the longest beach in San Teodoro, about 3 km, with colors that go from green all'azzuro and a fine sand.
In the late afternoon we arrive at Cala Gonone, with accommodation at the Palmasera.

3rd to 8th day: Cala Gonone - Orosei Gulf

The Palmasera is one of the few villages that maintain an excellent quality-price ratio, as well as meet one of the most characteristic areas of the island: from Cala Gonone fact, the park began in the Gulf of Orosei, with approximately 60 km of coastline accessible only by sea, with small bays and beaches that are among the most fascinating of the Mediterranean.
At the center of Orosei from a motorboat service that allow you to visit the coast, ending with elastic which allow several stops at various beaches.
The places not to miss are:
Cala Luna: For many described as the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, is a concentrate of beauty, the beach is open some caves, while behind there is a long green valley, surrounded by pink oleanders and a characteristic stream.
Cala Mariolu: My favorite. There is no sand but small pebbles of white marble that give transparency to an inimitable. Agrees to stop in the morning because the afternoon the beach is shaded.
Grotta del Bue Marino: Inside you will discover an extraordinary spectacle: the environment that there are many landscapes offer. Of great beauty are concretions, stalactites and stalagmites which are reflected in the numerous lakes.
Cala Gonone is also within walking distance from one of the most inland areas of Sardinia: the Barbagia. In a day you can make a pleasant excursion that touches some typical locations: On the source Cologone where immersed in unspoiled nature, surrounded by greenery flows a source which forms a crystal-clear lake. Nearby you can enjoy the cuisine of Sardinia, as the porcetto or grilled wild boar, at the beautiful hotel-restaurant on Cologone.
Following is Orgosolo: spectacular natural landscape dominated by Supramonte costumes of great charm and fragments of the history of the oldest Barbagia, represented by the typical mural that can be found practically everywhere.
Nearby you can also admire the village of Serra nuragico Orrios.
Beware of dogs shepherds, who attack without being provoked, and I have left a memorable souvenir on the calf.
On the way back, around Dorgali, is to visit the cave Ispinigoli where the highest stalagmite in Europe.
Finally, you should not miss the beautiful town of Orosei, both the historical center, and the beautiful beaches in front of its coastline, which Juniper and Liberotto Cala.

9th day: Cala Gonone - Villasimius

The first part of the trail is incredible: in about 60 km does not meet that many homes and the highway climbs the typical Sardinian hills, away from the sea.
The first major town you encounter is Arbatax where you can admire the famous red rocks, which seem almost sculpted.
Continuing meet the long beaches of Costa Rei, where he recommended a stop at Cala Pira, the beautiful bay of fine sand, turquoise water and lush Mediterranean vegetation.
In the south you encounter the most spectacular beaches and deserted on the island: the road to reach Villasimius is spectacular, with breathtaking views of the lovely sea and island Serpentaia.
A Villasimius that there is no choice in just a few kilometers you can find beaches for all tastes, for the direction of the wind and tides. The best are: Punta Molentis on the road to Costa Rei, and Porto Giunco, connected directly to the beach Simius. In shore the sand is pink and the water is of an extraordinary transparency. If instead the Mistral blows, the only sheltered beach is one of Porto Sa Ruxi.

10th day: Villasimius - Teulada

Reluctantly abandon this beautiful area to go in a westerly direction: first step Cagliari destination if you missed passes in this zone.
A quick stop to visit the old town, with the Cathedral and Castle, as well as the beautiful and busy streets nearby.
Continue to Nora, an important archaeological area in a wonderful position overlooking the sea, is a Punic and Roman city with the most interesting Roman theater of Sardinia.
It is again looking for other beautiful beaches, and when we talk about beaches one can not help but stop and Chia, perhaps best of all the sea which can be found in Sardinia. Even here the choice of beaches is endless: we have stopped in Cala Cipolla which forms a small natural pool, and then stop at the beach on a Jew, one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean: long, sand and crystal clear sea of dreams. Around high dunes up to 20 m. Single incident, a strong wind that ruined part of the paradise

11th day: Teulada - Arborea

This is a transfer day to say the least, incredibly, we decide to follow the west coast, although the road is not marked on maps begin to climb on a mountain climbing almost to 1,000 meters with a dirt road, from time to time we have to wade some torrent.
Finally began the descent, but to make a hundred kilometers, we spent almost the whole morning. First stop of this adventure in Cala Domestica, which seems from the photos really spectacular: in fact it will certainly be given the position, but we have the misfortune to happen after a swell, so the water is pretty dirty.
This is the wildest area of the island, characterized by the virtual absence of hotels and infrastrutture.Dalla coast around Nebida you can also admire a splendid tall rock, known as Pan di Zucchero.
After the steep section, you will arrive quickly at Buggerru and then began rising in the mountains, when a detour along the coast back up to the long beach of Piscinas famous because you can observe the highest dune on the move again in Europe The effect is from the Sahara Desert.
After a long exhausting day is finally arrives to Arborea, locality not advisable because completely infested with mosquitoes.
