Arrival
Weekend full of good wine and good food. We go in the Langhe wine festival in
Barolo.
We leave on 13 to eight and after two hours and thirty arrive in the village of
Neive CN, first stop of our weekend.
The village is noted as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy (www.borghiitalia.it). We do a walk through the village visiting the churches and towers, very suggestive.
We are about to head towards
Barolo but decide to detour to
Mango.
Arrivati discover that it is the city of partisan Johnny ... the famous novel. Visit the old town and see that in every corner there is a sign that refers to the novel. There is also a castle which is not open.
Then we head to another town ...
Barolo.
We suffered the hotel ... precisely hotel
Barolo (www.hotelbarolo.it), the hotel is there nice p the pool. The rooms are large and comfortable. The price is EUR 100 double and 70 single, including breakfast buffet.
After check in we do a walk around the town of
Barolo, we find the museum of the corkscrew, very nice, the commission also gives us ideas of what to visit in the area, was very kind.
Let's also visit the Castle of
Barolo, which is unfortunately closed for renovation, will reopen next year with the wine museum attached.
It 'time for lunch ... and we trust the advice of the lord of the museum ... Osteria La Cantinella but unfortunately we are not at all well ... the staff is rude, food poor ... indeed very low, the price then ... do not speak. We found just evil! Sin.
On the advice of the lord of the museum (this time was not a bluff) we visit the town of
Grinzane Cavour. It is just over 5 minutes by car, we find the castle easily, very impressive and beautiful. E 'open and inside there is the wine museum. This country is also famous thanks to the historic character Count Camillo Benso di Cavour ... who was the mayor.
The town is surrounded by vineyards ... as is every village in the Langhe.
Barolo we returned to rest in the evening that awaits us ... in the square there will be a theatrical representation of I promised spouses.
For dinner we thought of going to a farm (due to the bad experience of the afternoon) ... and to our misfortune that we find in langhe farmhouse hotel is synonymous with ... not like us that is synonymous with good eating ... Try another restaurant in the midst of vineyards, but ... nothing and decide to return to
Barolo and go into a restaurant that was recommended by Lord of the museum ... the name is Rossobarolo, and enter the atmosphere is very nice, the food also, we ate a lot ... But ... also a negative side ... We waited 35 minutes for the bill ... was now 21:35 and the show had already started ... We run the streets and unfortunately we find that the show had not even begun, we ask the children of the company and tell us that there was nobody to see them ... We look incredulous ... Maybe if we had arrived on time would have done ... Sin!
Festival
The day after is the big day .. The
Barolo wine festival, the king of wines!
Descend in the city center and see a lot of banquets with various specialties of the place ... there were 29 different stand. We decide to start from the wine and so we take a glass of
Barolo (the cup then we had to remember) and then begin to taste the different specialties, from risotto al
Barolo, the meats and cheeses ... etc etc.
It 'been a very pleasant weekend of wine and food ... and of course art.
