After two wonderful days of sunshine Dublin, we are leaving for another beautiful city: Venice.
What can we say about Venice that has not already been said? It 's amazing how, in 24 years, has had the good fortune and time to explore the most remote corners of the world, neglecting the jewels "in house" so unique, we all envy!
Dublin and Venice are certainly not as unusual a pairing, I admit it! Meanwhile, I built this trip, I wanted to merge the two cities that were visited in a short time, easily connected with the aircraft and we had not seen neither myself nor my boyfriend ... Ryanair searching the site, it seemed the best solution! Moving from Dublin to Venice cost us a night at the airport (at least once a year I have to!), But the tiredness has still not taken the enthusiasm to rush just arrived from the streets and canals!
Treviso airport is very well connected to the city in 40 minutes to Piazzale Roma and the same time you come back!
On April 5 this year was Easter, and as there are no "low season" for Venice, I was shocked by the human rivers poured into the city! Never seen so many people in my life! Who knows, maybe I even crossed a traveler / traveler of viaggiscoop! :) This of course made the first day very exhausting, so my advice is to choose the working days and why not, midweek, to enjoy the city without all the confusion!
As for accommodation, when it came time to choose the hotel I have some 'pushing your luck: in fact I have recommended all Venice city, both for the prohibitive prices for housing in itself, often old, and very humid poorly kept, and I was advised Mestre. Despite everything, my choice has been the Locanda Herion, Cannaregio 1697 / A, with 40 euro per night per person offered a double room with private bathroom and breakfast included. Leaving at the end of the holiday, I promised the manager I would have made a ruthless publicity, and this will do! The inn is a bit 'hard to find at first, but not because it is hidden, in fact, (it is also marked with a sign on the main street of Cannaregio), but because it is initially a bit' difficult to interpret the city map and addresses , Cannaregio is in fact the name of the neighborhood, but then there are a thousand alleys! It 'an old stone building completely restored, with a staircase that leads upstairs where there are rooms, all with private bath. Since it was released the largest room, the manager was kind enough to make it available! Beautiful room, all new, spacious, huge bathroom, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed! The staff was very friendly and a hearty breakfast! Back in Venice, rebook here with my eyes closed! I found myself very well, and also the neighborhood is full of cute cafes, ipertranquillo, a short walk from the vaporetto stop San Marcuola, 20 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco! Truly amazing!
Obviously, due mainly in two days we have to make choices: for example, I have not seen any museum, the Peggy Guggenheim Gallery at the Palazzo Grassi, to my chagrin as my love for art. But it was also nice to get lost among the narrow streets, wander around aimlessly in search of various fields, occasionally hitting the many wonderful churches that dot Venice (Note: Many churches are paying. I would not have visited all but the most important and I student discounts, but I read that the existence of a Chorus Pass for the price of 10 € gives you free access to about a dozen churches), do not miss Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, with the beautiful blades of Titian, a real museum. I came to Santa Maria della Salute and the Punta della Dogana, passing the Rialto, and the Santa Croce district of San Marco, to the homonymous square.
Piazza San Marco I think is one of the most beautiful squares I've ever seen (my heart is for St. Peter's Square, though!). Enormous, regal, romantic, there is an atmosphere that is impossible to explain in words ... pity for the countless roofs of the restorations, which are certainly lose much of the magic. It is on a roll for Venice from this point of view: the church, around the foundations of the tower, the buildings overlooking the square, the Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs are in the hands of billboards and Bulgari Trussardi .. . really bad!
We also chose to visit Murano and Burano, both beautiful but especially the last, full of colorful houses ... time seems to stand still! Plan to devote a good morning to visit, because the steamer takes a bit 'to get there! We have chosen to subscribe to the daily boat that day (€ 18) but I believe that if you do not have plans to do long-haul flights or visits "out of town", the ideal means of transportation are their feet! a single journey by boat costs € 6.50, regardless of the number of stops you want to do!
Highly recommend a visit to the Palazzo Ducale, really beautiful! Furthermore, also visiting the prisons, you can experience the thrill of go inside the bridge of sighs (who has a romantic name only and the external facade, I assure you!).
Venice is beautiful, has remained in my heart ... is really the height of his fame he has, and I want to dispel the myth can be inaccessible because of its prices, because all things considered I could not drain my budget, but above all I came home full of memories and emotions!
