Seaside resort, not only in Sardinia (Stintino, Alghero, Pelosa beach, beach of Saline) from 1 to 11 September 2008
of Ferny Forner
September 1: Stintino beach Pelosa
Arrived in Porto Torres from Genoa at 8 am and we go by car to the Hotel in Stintino Still, we had booked via the Internet (including ferries).
The hotel, surrounded by trees and greenery, is a complex of small buildings, two storeys high, camouflaged in green, between Stintino and Capo Falcone about 15-20 minutes walk from the famous beach Pelosa,
While waiting for the allocation of the room doing an exploratory lap, in front of a large garden with trees elegant tables with chairs, beside a children's playground, then the arena where the evening takes place the animation.
Let's go to the beach, we see the swimming pool, lounge chairs available, a bar, a marina, however we will always Pelosa and other beaches of the peninsula,
We are assigned a room, complete with air conditioning, television, perhaps placed too high, the bathroom is complete, the linen is changed daily, the hair dryer is delivered on payment of a security, for the same key safe, no wifi, but in the evening you can use your computer for free at the reception.
Meals are served in a large dining room, wishing you can choose to stay outdoors in the garden, the dishes are placed on tables, there is a self-service except for pasta and meat that are served in the spaces provided, The menu changes with each meal and always includes great dishes sardi, the choice is wide even in sweets and ice cream cakes, the cuisine is excellent, the evening the choice is enriched with a wide choice of meat and fish choice on the spot, fired on plate.
The staff is very young and preparation.
Arrival is also required to pay the club card, that throughout the period is 37.14 per head, which by law to qualify for the shuttle (very convenient since parking at Pelosa costs 1.5 euros per hour and it is difficult to park (we are often left on foot), for the stay, we paid about 1100 euro in two (full board) and of course the extras.
In the afternoon, after a short rest (we were awake for more than 30 hours), we walk to the famous beach Pelosa (20 minutes) to get there along a wide sidewalk and convenient asphalted road, which then find out from Stintino, and ultimately to the Head Falcone, the path is a latch, very sunny, on the edge of a dense Mediterranean scrub vegetation.
Beach (very crowded), one of the most famous of Italy, is quite extensive, both in length and in width, fine white sand, the slope is very gentle, and very suited to children (in fact they are many) , almost the entire beach, but there are also traditional bathrooms (thankfully few) with umbrellas and deck chairs.
The sea has great transparency and reflections, you see the bottom even with the deep water, always being very calm and protected from the wind by the particular shape of this area, even when near the Mistral blows through the natural protection provided by the Head Falcone, from Plains and dall'Asinara that make this place like a swimming pool.
At about 200 meters from the Pelosetta, sandy beach and rocks placed in front of the small island of the Tower of Pelosa and Piana.
The view is magnificent.
September 2: Stintino
Morning spent at the beach Pelosa.
In the afternoon we use bicycles available free for guests to go to Stintino.
The road is a continuous succession of stretches uphill and downhill, the distance is safe thanks to the very wide sidewalk along the road and comes to the country.
Unfortunately, the change of bikes does not work, and increased with higher slope we go down the stretch and then walk, a problem because the day is very hot and the road is all the sun (about 4 km)
In both sides of the road there are low bushes of Mediterranean scrub, typical of the island.
Stintino is a small country, has an interesting museum (Museum of Tonnara), the core of the old city, has low houses, the most tourist is in front of the old port, there will often also in the evening to sit in on two bars restaurants Lungomare Colombo, the prices are very fair (coffee table at 1.3 euros), the evening is crowded, there is also some music, take advantage of the tour to gather information.
September 3: Saline Beach
Pelosa the morning, the afternoon we decide to go to the beach of Saline, with convenient bus service from Cape Falcone door at Country Village.
The service is very comfortable and convenient (EUR 0.70, fixed price for any destination)
Saline Beach is about 2-3 km from Stintino (then at about 6-7 km from the hotel), the bus stop outside the hotel.
The route winds through the streets surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, small ponds, creeks.
The journey takes 15 minutes, we stop about 200 meters from the beach, to reach the beach you pass through areas where previously there were salt, you pass through the ancient basins where the salt had dried, in the small pond of salt should also see of flamingos, but I see only a few gabbiano
Beach, whose name is due to salt marshes that characterized the area is characterized by a great tower that stands out at the beach, has long eye seems to get up close to Porto Torres, but I think it is an optical illusion, exploration also find that walking to the Pond San Nicolas, also assumes different names (Puzzona beach, beach of Punta d'Elice, beach etc. ezi Mannu.
Behind the beach are somewhat different ponds' far more of the pond Casaraccio, we will see better days after passing the bus.
We arranged with our mats, the beach is very beautiful, made of very small white gravel (stones appear grains of rice) and polished, the beach is less wide Pelosa, certainly much less crowded, there are some bathrooms organized, very spaced between them, the water is transparent tending to green, the slope is gentle, though less sweet Pelosa.
After dinner we walk to Cape Falcone, one stop in the bar restaurant where we enjoy a magnificent panorama of Pelosa, bar and quite beautiful and has a scenic terrace overlooking the sea, is also a free hotspot, beautiful comfort can use the free wifi There will come more than once.
