Today Stephanie and I have decided to take a day off to spend a day unlike any other!
Going to make a turn to learn about and see an area close to us, where we had never been because it is often thought to visit faraway places and we end up not knowing those close to us.
After bringing their daughters to school, we headed towards Impruneta, then progress to the beautiful area of Chianti. As we were heading in Castelnuovo Berardenga, intrigued us an indication for the Fattoria di Ama. Shortly after we parked the car and found ourselves in the middle of a small village, that of Love, who has left us speechless. It seems to take a step back in time through alleys and stone houses, and from there you see a beautiful view of the vineyards. We continue to Castelnuovo Berardenga and after a brief visit, we headed toward the true jewel of the day: San Gusmè, a village, a village. We are appalled by turning the streets of this medieval village. The core dates from the fourteenth century, almost circular in shape, bounded by walls and two doors. San Gusmè became an important stronghold of the Republic of Siena. There we dined at an inn typical "by Sira and reminisce," Pici tasted the famous cheese and pepper, and of course the delicious drink of the house Chianti. The ns. journey continued to the nearby Borgo San Felice, the home of the winery. As magical a place that makes you take a step back in time and seeing him immediately understand why it is popular with foreign tourists and especially Americans. From there the view of the countryside of Siena is 360 degrees and the eye falls on Castle Brolio, another famous winery in the area. We decide to go and visit and then the choice has been spot on. The castle is owned by the Ricasoli family since ancient times.
Its location was strategically important for the control of the Chianti area, edge of Florence, then to the border with the territory of Siena, and placed the castle in the middle of the many frontier wars from '300 to the mid-sixteenth century.
Before concluding ns. trip, we stopped to visit the village of Radda in Chianti.
It 'was a really nice day, we saw some very beautiful places and admired the beautiful countryside of Siena, but unfortunately, given the season, the colors of nature were still far behind. Returning home, we promised to repeat the same route in the autumn, perhaps during the harvest.
