The chain runs along the border between the Abruzzo, Marche and Lazio straddling the provinces of L'Aquila, Teramo, Ascoli Piceno and Rieti, the total length of 24 km.

The chain of the Laga is divided by the Gran Sasso chain by striking narrow valley of the river Vomano that ends up with the Passo delle Capannelle and Lake Campotosto.

In the valley, now crossed by State 80, was once covered by a branch of the ancient Via Cecilia of which have found evidence. It 'a little-known tourist route but suggestive.
