A natural park with the woods is famous for its rich wildlife, a river of blue water where you can come to fish with a rod on Sunday afternoon, a quiet village where long walks in the story here is the beautiful Turbigo, about half an hour drive from Milan. But beyond reach by car, you can also get here by bicycle, riding along the Canal Grande, and recalling that it was precisely the work of excavation of the waterway, which began in 1179, to give life to the neighborhood in Turbigo Gio, characterized by the presence of canals, bridges and roads that still retain the atmosphere of yesteryear.
Located in Lombard Park of the Ticino Valley, the historic importance of Turbigo is also due to its strategic location as a place of crossing the river between Como and Novara. Over the centuries it was a feud of several families including the De Cristoforis Tatti and, as indicated by the presence of Villa Tatti and the eighteenth century Palazzo De Cristoforis Gray, now the Town Hall.
That the symbol of Turbigo was always the river, as can be seen in the different hypotheses regarding the origin of its name may derive from the Latin "bis turris", remember the two towers of the head of the bridge over the Ticino, which already existed in Roman and present in the coat of arms, but could also derive from the Germanic "mob" or hut, but there are also those who believe that the deal is "Turbigium" or "Turbiscus", terms that evoke the wave Ticino.
With this in mind, even our day turbighese could only start on the banks of the river, where, thanks to mild weather and sunny late winter, we saw many people walking, fishing and spin cycling. Moving toward the center, we admired the seventeenth-century three-arched bridge on the Canal Grande, near the remains of the old Austrian customs of the late eighteenth century, and then delve into the heart of the village after visiting the thirteenth-century Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian. It is said that it was the church of the prayers during the construction of the Cathedral of Milan.
And here we are to live the spiritual emotion that starts going up an imposing staircase that leads from Via Veneto are located on the terrace on which the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin and the Castle. This site combines past and present thanks to the historicity of the Castle, which already existed in the ninth century, now private property, and the imposing church built in 1936 with the cooperation of the sculptor Carlo Bonomi. Next to the church and castle, the artist produced a study called The Hermitage-Savage is now a fascinating museum-gallery of plaster casts.
We wanted to cap off the day with a tasty dinner and light at the same time, Light at the restaurant, on Via Roma, suggeritoci a couple of friends who often come here to enjoy the many fast food business lunches, as well as having participated in any receiving company organized in the hall of the local ceremonies.

Let's start with the crunchy fried with pearl barley and artichokes, olives and a light pesto with basil, scallops cooked in dry martini, creamed peas and watercress, and the flan buffalo ricotta, chicory oil, cream and truffle a fried egg. We follow these excellent starters to the rags of chestnuts and chocolate, from artichokes and shrimp with ginger, then Carnaroli whipped cream yellow peppers, carpaccio of scallops and truffle flavor, the pasta and farro stuffed with rags and thyme to seirass guinea fowl. In choosing the second we divide between the perch fillet with melted butter and red pepper pesto potato cake, the thighs stuffed rabbit with sausage, wrapped in bacon with fried potatoes and sauce, and fillet of Gewürztraminer Veal escalope with Fagioletti Nebbiolo and bacon potatoes. Let's water them with good wine chosen from hundreds of national brands, including those at zero distance of the nearby House of Oleggio Zoina.
The next time we might try the tasting menu "The Sea" or "territory", available for the whole table, and now we close with elegant puff pastry with crunchy sweet apple sauce and vanilla with strawberry salad with mint, the egg holder to coffee, Catalan cream with liquorice and shot the elder and creamy hot chocolate and hazelnut parfait Baileys.
