THE MURGE: THESE UNKNOWN LANDS!

The Murge area covers a large area of Puglia and is divided between the northern province of Bari to go towards the south-east always within reach and touch the neighboring province of Matera, which still retains the colors and smells in a tough relationship with Puglia.
Parks and oases that arise in the territory are often raided Sunday by tourists especially in summer to escape all'afa persistent and even Pasquetta. On this trip we visited the WWF oasis of Mellitto not great but with a fairly established ecosystem, the forest of Mercadante (in the evening and then the images do not render at all). Forest Mercadante is artificial and was created around 1927 to stem the waste water that caused tremendous damage to the city of Bari Today after almost 80 years is a place for excursions Fuoriporta and also hosts some nice deer and ostriches . Continuing along the SS 96 comes to Altamura, the city of bread. Its historic center is clean and full of shops and cafes, and stands the imposing structure of Romanesque cathedral as almost all the churches of the province of Bari Two other goals of our trip are Massafra Laterza and the latter almost border Matera. Even here there is a gravina to be admired and out Laterza LIPU oasis. A Laterza is a popular trade in pottery and the bread is almost as good to Altamura.
