The Schiavonia festival. Mottola, Puglia, Italy
Località: MottolaRegione: PUGLIA Stato: ITALY (IT)
What is a Schiavonia? Well when we went to Mottola at the first day of the festival of the guitar, an event that takes bench Mottola and around for about seven days for a few years around the first week of July from Saturday to Sunday, a gentleman where he was questioned about this event candidly replied "In Schiavonia, where the roads are narrow because it is a Schiavonia" The Schiavonia is the old quarter of town Mottola in the province of Taranto climbing a hill and then pretty cool (we recommend a jacket and good shoes). The town is pretty, has cave churches in the neighborhood, a beautiful church and a charming array old quarter of narrow streets fact, Scalinatella and white houses of lime. Also on the floor of the main square of freshly made (that is to say for about ten years since the visit dates back to 1999 but then we were back in 2003) a mosaic of events dating back to the Norman domination. For those who think we are to the gourmet restaurants and pizzerias, and is possible Puccia, a sort of piadina a little 'thicker to fill at will, Salentine specialty and province of Taranto.
ps: I was a July 7 Mottola in 1999 although I see October 7, I do not know why :-(((
