Thanks to our friend in Siena, we had the opportunity to see up close the Palio and its preparations. We were at the dinner of the contrada Bruco, in the presence of hundreds of people who proudly wore the yellow-green.
The whole city is a feast, there's lots of people, maybe too much! I can not walk, there is a delirium. Almost a sense of suffocation in the Piazza del Campo, crowded all'inverosimile, where tourists and locals mix in a mix of colors and races.
Wonderful rituals before competition: the blessing of the horses, the best wishes to Fantino (idolized like a god) ... traditions that missed at least once should be lived to be close. To have a strong feeling, an emotion that the race on TV will never give you.
