What Carpeneto, charming little hilltop village, nestled in the vineyards of Monferrato, in addition to its famous wine-making tradition has a vocation "magic", it is known from time immemorial. The popular folklore of the second half of the nineteenth century, Giuseppe Ferraro collected in several volumes customs, songs, legends and even the peculiarities of spoken Monferrato. His work is comparable to that performed Giuseppe Pitre in Sicily, which Ferraro was also a friend. The stories he has collected is also populated by a remarkable string of witches, magical animals and plants, to demonstrate the existence of a folk magical charm, a feature that is underlined by Night Magic event, which takes place every year in Carpeneto the first Friday of August.

Shadows that wander in the dark at the foot of the castle, mysterious voices that you hear on the night of the ancient alleys, the vine leaves in hot summer days that move despite the absence of wind, as if there were elves behind, a woman's face that appears underneath an old tree and then disappear suddenly. Popular legends, fairy tales, which are part of the tradition and today are an opportunity to make a big summer festival full of mystery, organized by the SOMS Carpenetese.

The streets of Carpeneto will be populated by wizards, witches, gnomes and fairies, but there will not even stilt walkers, acrobats and fire eaters for the amusement of adults and children, and for those who want to know your future, simply turn to astrologers to the fortune tellers. Among people in costume, musicians and dancers who will perform choreography in the Middle Ages, the night will be a real plunge into the mysteries of history.
