Three days on Lake Garda, the major lake of Italy
It's been a relaxing trip, this lake is really beautiful and the heat is mitigated by the constant wind.
We slept in tents at Camp Linden, Lugana, Sirmione. It 'was the first time in a tent and I think we experiment, the camp is well organized, near the lake and features a restaurant with affordable prices.
Sirmione
We left around 7:30 and arrived at 11 in
Sirmione.
Parking lots near the old town are very expensive and we preferred to leave the car farther away and take a walk.
Sirmione is a tourist town but very nice, the lake is wonderful! The main attractions are the castle Scaliger, whose tower is a fine view and the so-called Grotte di Catullo, ruins of a Roman villa.
We took a scenic walk along which you will find several beaches.
Riva del Garda
The second day we decided to take a trip on the lake.
Parties from
Sirmione to 9:36 we arrived in
Riva del Garda to 12.30 approximately. The round trip costs about 27 euros per head (not much).
The catamaran ride was relaxing and we could see, if only briefly, some of the countries bordering on Lake Garda.
Riva is located on the bank thirty: here are darker waters of the lake and the more rugged landscape. The town was long under Habsburg rule, as noted by the picturesque buildings.
We visited the museum housed in the fortress (free for students). We particularly liked the part about the Second World War.
The beaches are many and you can rent pedal boats.
At 17:05 started the last ferry to
Sirmione, where we arrived around 19.
We dined at a party in Lugana, I think "Festival of the Lake": prices were low and the food delicious!
Verona
We reluctantly left the shores of the lake and arrived at
Verona in half an hour.
Our visit was shorter than expected because it was really too hot!
Sunday parking are free and we parked near the center.
In about four hours we visited the Arena, Piazza dei Signori with the tower, Juliet's house and castle.
The prices of bars and restaurants are very high.
