Traveling with Juan through Basilicata, Italy

Another trip ... this time the destination was the Basilicata region of the original John a boy who lives in Motta from 5 years together with his fellow countryman and compare Peppino.
So the morning of Saturday, October 28, I, Guido Giuan and of course we started in the car ...

The 28 was the day dedicated entirely to travel, we started the morning around 9.00 and arrived at SINK-UNIT in the province of Matera to 19.00 after an interminable queue at Bologna (2 hours) and a stop at Catholic University.
Arrived at its destination we were greeted by the family of John that he has hosted for 3 days. Days to remember that the big eat and for the great hospitality of the local people.
Sunday 29 after an abundant meal at the home of John we direct towards Monticchio where there are two beautiful lakes of volcanic origin which is reflected in the Abbey of San Michele.
Lakes around which strange things happen ... machines that let in neutral on a downhill slope to go and who knows what, or ghosts that appear in the photographs ... ..
We crossed part of the Basilicata among flocks of sheep and caves where people still live.
30 morning we wake up very early and we left immediately to the discovery of the famous "Sassi" of Matera. Beautiful city situated on the western slopes of the Murge declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We lunched in a cave umidissima!
In the afternoon pass through the dolomites lucane which are defined so that recall the great Dolomites, with their jagged peaks of the profile we went to visit the disappointing Potenza, the capital of this region with style buildings outskirts of Milan which rise from a mountain.

31 after the warm greeting people you know in these three days and Guido I have started to go back to Italy from the Western stop and spend the evening in the always charming Florence. I will be at least 10 times in Florence and when the splendor of this city makes you stay open-mouthed!

After an evening of lions that I probably should leave out the stories in the morning barely awake we direct towards Pistoia, in Tuscany only city that both we had never seen. Beautiful city of perhaps a less popular in Tuscany, but certainly worth a visit ...
