Given the proximity to my residence, I was in many occasions in the Province of Pisa, many of them not for the purpose of tourism. Many times I was in the capital of Pisa and I visited the famous and magnificent Piazza dei Miracoli, perhaps the most beautiful square in the world. Have risen only once but on top of the famous leaning tower, the Italian most famous monument in the world. On other occasions I have been limited by it from below in all its grandeur particular. But the tower of Pisa is only the icing on the cake of this square are just as beautiful as the Duomo and the Baptistery, which stand on the well-kept lawn. Even within the Cathedral is very beautiful in spite of the simplicity that lies in this ancient place of worship. Less known but equally interesting are the Diocesan Museum and the Campo Santo monumental, once rich in frescoes lost sinopie which are visible in a namesake museum. This treasure trove is collected around the walls, which lay at the heart of historic Pisa in Piazza dei Miracoli is just a suburb. The rest of the old town is located towards the Arno, which divides the city into two. The ancient Piazza dei Cavalieri although small gathers beautiful buildings including the Church of Santo Stefano dei Cavalieri, The Palace of Count Ugolino and the Town of Normal, the University of excellence they access only the Italian genes. Lungarno arrived at the Ponte di Mezzo iporta on the other side of the city introduced by the Loggia dei Bianchi once the market for wool and silk. Returning on the other side and along the Lungarno eastward reach the Convent of San Matteo in which you visit the namesake museum devoted to sculpture and visual arts. Still on lunarno, but near the Ponte Solferino, is the tiny church of Santa Maria della Spina, a small jewel of Gothic art flourished. Around Pisa is the entrance of the San Rossore, a protected area of Mediterranean scrub that stretches toward the sea between the mouths of Serchio and dell'Arno. Under its own power until it reaches a Cascine Vecchie, the visitor center of this estate in the past ownership of the Crown of Savoy and then the President of the Republic. The estate is part itself of a larger ecosystem, protected as a park-Migliarino San Rossore-Massacciuccoli whose borders sbordano in the Province of Lucca. Inside the park are located next to the Racecourse Estate in San Rossore and north of the Serchio Macchia Migliarino which orbit close to the homonymous village and the sandy coast of Marina di Vecchiano equipped for bathing. La Macchia Migliarino belongs to the City of Vecchiano whose small town is located not far inland from San Giuliano Terme, a spa with a building of architectural interest to the foot of a hill that separates it from the Province of Lucca. Around Pisa, over the Arno, is the village of San Piero a Grado with the ancient Basilica of St. Peter's built on the site where according to tradition the Apostle landed in Rome where he founded the Church on the dictates of Christ. The Basilica of Christian origins is very simple but certainly worth a visit for its solemnity. In just a few kilometers you reach Marina di Pisa, where the bank of the mouth, there are piles features used by fishermen for fishing with the scales. Some of these piles are placed on rocks deviate from the mainland and accessible only by boat. On the south coast of Marina di Pisa Tirrenia lies deep in the green Mediterranean and its hinterland is the base of Camp Darby visible from State Route 1.
Leaving Pisa following the reverse course of Calci is met with a beautiful Certosa visited inside. A pleasant visit to discover the Carthusian way of life is entering the place of common prayer and in individual cells of the monks. A wing of the Monastery is occupied by an interesting museum of minerals, stuffed animals and skeletons of large cetaceans managed by the University of Pisa. The road continues through to within Uliveto Baths, where you go next to the company that bottles the famous mineral water, then for the bulk of Cascina center famous for its furniture. Continuing we find the precious medieval center of Vicopisano walled hill on which rise historic buildings and ancient towers. In the lower part is very interesting also the Church. The Arno continues its course in an area full of small businesses as a Fornacette and Calcinaia but also a large industry, the Piaggio in Pontedera. Following the river direct to Florence see the medieval village of Santa Maria a Monte place on a hill full of old buildings that give it the shape of a snail. The small country is well connected to the memory of the poet Giosue Carducci who stayed here as a young man and his house overlooking the narrow and fraught portta that on top of the hill. In front of Santa Maria a Monte San Miniato is situated on a hill along the Arno. The historic center of this town is full of testimonies of the past: a cathedral with a powerful square tower, the Church of the Holy Crucifix, the long, curvilinear Palazzo del Seminario, whose exterior walls are geometrrici designs in muted colors, and the Bishop's Palace the Rocca of Federico II, in fact, a tower that Domna valley.
The Province of Pisa also extends southward almost in Maremma even if this part is not facing the sea. Immediately south of Pontedera the center of Ponsacco, Lari then meets with a small town developed around the Castello dei Vicari, a strange construction of the different eras in the lower part looks like a strong and high building renaissance. Not far Casciana is famous for its spa. Nearby, a Peccioli, is the Dinosaur Park where two brothers have reconstructed scenes of Jurassic dinosaurs with huge concrete and the primitive cave man. Much further south is a historic architectural gem, Volterra. The city is preceded by "Balze, argillaceous formations sottopooste to continuous erosion and consequently to landslides. Volterra has an old center that bears witness to the passing of eras and peoples. The Etruscans founded that has left the door Diana, port Labella Arch and numerous burial mounds preserved in the Museum Guarnacci along with examples of funerary art and the famous bronze statue of shadow. The Romans have built a lasting memory a bell'anfiteatro. The rest of the town consists of medieval buildings, some of which restructured in the Renaissance. The city plan as a whole is well preserved and uniform so as to include Volterra between the most beautiful in Tuscany. Heart of the historic center is the medieval Piazza dei Priori with the same name on the facade palace are many coats of arms. La Piazza has other architectures such as the beautiful Palazzo Pretorio with the soaring Torre del Podestà and the road leading to the Duomo. The whole town full of palaces, arches, courtyards, decorations and badges presents walls and is dominated by the highest point of the hill from the fortress Medicea now used as a prison. Many cities in the souvenir shops specializing mainly in the sale of artefacts in alabaster, stone that is extracted in the area.
In the far south of the Province of Pisa, close to the Maremma, the area of Larderello is renowned for geothermal energy.
