Visit to some Frederician castles in Puglia and Basilicata. Trip to southern Italy
We wanted to visit an area little known to the general public, but full of architectural wonders and natural. We went in the Vulture area, where they still survive some of the 200 castles taken by Frederick the Great between Puglia and Lucania. Fortifications built to hunt and why he loved Federico move continuously, with all his entourage of people and things ... including solid gold dinner services. Mount Vulture is of volcanic origin and are testimony of the two lakes Monticchio, the classic form of the caldera. The castle also houses museums mainly archaeological objects containing Greek and Roman Repertoire in several areas scattered in the digging. Some everyday objects were also remarkable and unbelievable a Roman sarcophagus completely stained. The colors and the autumn mists have copletato the magic of this trip.
