The castle of Manta is one of the few in Piedmont opened in autumn and winter, even though the service left much to be desired. We arrived late morning and a group had just left (only guided tours), there are so 'quickly aggregated to the group of 11.30 that was in the church.
When we reached the entrance, the garden was a counter where a small man made the tickets for entry, has displaced interesting to note that no one has explained to us, we had to ask for and of interest to us, they have proposed, there have described nothing, we have practically seen although we clearly are interested in visiting the castle.
That aside, we reached the group in the beautiful chapel next to the castle and among the frescoes of dubious authorship and explanations we have heard that it was not possible to take photographs or better if you could pay a premium ... (shocking than they are studying to earn !)
without all the flash and then we were done the same.
From the church we went to the garden right into the cellars of the castle perched on the hillside, on live rock in the basement so that 3 walls are built of brick and consists of a solid rock of the mountain.
The cellars are thin and not really open to visitors, there are exhibited some pieces of antique objects not entirely typical of the era. Going up you enter the large kitchen, very charming and beautiful, makes it an idea of how the accounts could work at the time (around 1400) and was functional and provided. Brick flooring and a large space for the fire with a huge pot hung. They were cooked for everyone, rich and poor of the castle. A shaft directly into the kitchen was a luxury and became available rain water in the kitchen. Some kitchen tools from the walls and a dip in the floor opened directly outside where all the differences were direct (an old garbage can). A table placed where in the past there was probably a table for cicinare and support the plates and pots. The room was the most 'warm the castle with the fire always lit, a door reached from the kitchen to the stat and a private wine cellar.
Via an external staircase and then we arrived at the private rooms and more 'luxurious of the small castle mata, garden plants and tools, the stairs an old armor ...
A dining room painted with a very large fireplace, chandeliers and paintings.
A grade very beautiful frescoed room with a large fireplace on one side of the room are depicted 9 important men and 9 women, figures based on a novel written by the father of the man who lived in the castle. On the wall depicts the fountain of eternal youth with a painting large, colorful, many characters and scenes of hunting, love, symbolic .... large coffered ceiling and a wooden niche painted on the back of the room.
The room key (the hall of the grotesque) was closed for renovations so we went into a long narrow cporridoio very badly put together, the frescoed ceiling and many mirrors and pictures hanging on the walls.
To finish in beauty bedroom with a small green canopy bed, windows overlooking the park, and wall hangings, stained marble floor and doors leading outside and the kitchen.
The guide was very good at explaining and keep interest alive, he told one of the many legends about the castle, the legend of the Lady of Lily, an old lady who kills her suitors for fear of being discovered, it is said the ghost roams for the castle in the nights of February perfuming rooms lily ......
The park is small but very nice and cared for, arches with climbing fences, large trees and benches under the pine. The view is poor from the garden but at the time .... who knows ....
Admission is 7 euro per head for the tour and there was also entitled to a taste of polenta with cheese in the day of 18/11/2007.
The car park is outside and a small piece of road to reach the entrance you walk uphill.
Esaudiente interesting and there was also a cafeteria at the miserable end of the park in a small apartment building.
I would say that if employees were entering only a little 'more' polite and interested in what 'that are perhaps more' frequent or at least people would come out more 'satisfied.
Some very beautiful paintings, beautiful paintings in the church and the church. The toll is owned by the Make between 89 and there are many repairs to be done. However it was an interesting visit though brief (maximum time 1 hour).
