A weekend of wellness at the spa, enjoying the relaxation could do as the Romans, or a weekend adrenaline, adventure, driving a jeep true American, in perfect harmony with the myths of our time? Both, of course!
Our trip to Acqui Terme, a famous spa town of Alto Monferrato, was indeed a pleasant mix of wellness, fun and adventure automotive exquisite cuisine based on the excellent gastronomic offer in the area.
We drove the panoramic road Turchino, which leads to the Acqui Terme Ovada through breathtaking scenery, and the idea soon be able to roam in the beautiful hills that we saw around us, driving a jeep true American, a lot of us excited.
We arrived Saturday morning in Acqui Terme, and after we settled at the Hotel Pineta, we went for a walk in the city, then indulge in the pleasures of spa pampering. From our hotel, which as the name implies, is nestled in a pine forest, but still remains near the center of Aix, we reached the remains of the Roman Empire, among the monuments of the city. Fifteen four gigantic pillars and arches to recall their glorious tradition Acqui Spa, thanks to which the city managed to survive even in the darkest times of the Middle Ages. The thermal springs of Acqui Terme enjoyed considerable prestige in Roman times, in fact, the Roman writer Pliny the Elder reminds one of the most important of the Roman world. After we went to see the aqueduct water: that of Boiling, the most famous monument of the city: it is a beautiful marble shrine built in 1879 by John Cerutti, in which water flows and bills Healing: 560 liters per minute to 74.5 degrees, a water-sulfur salt-bromine and iodine.
Our day continued in close contact with this reality regenerating Acqui: We granted a number of pampering in the spa a short walk from the Hotel Pineta, so that we are missing anything, sauna, bio sauna, turkish bath, experience showers, swimming pool with water Spa 35 degrees, but also a fitness center with gym cardioisotonica.
After that day we felt like reborn, reborn in perfect physical and relaxed in mind: we were ready for the pleasures of good food, like the great adventure car the next day. We got off at the hotel restaurant fairly hungry, and knowing that the drivers of cars need a lot of energy, we wisely decided not to spare in front of the goodness that we were served. We started with a buffet of vegetables and appetizers, followed by essential agnolotti Piedmont. Our friends have taken the noodles instead Barbera, after which we enjoyed an excellent Barolo and braised veal with a touch of cottage cheese fondue Roccaverano. All washed down with fine wines of Monferrato, and followed by a colorful dessert buffet.
After a sound sleep in the silent rooms of the hotel, and after a hearty breakfast buffet, Sunday morning we were full of adrenalin and could not wait to go up on the fabulous jeep we saw in the photographs. All of us, including women in the group, we are of a kind "on the road, and the idea to measure ourselves behind the wheel of a car that could give us emotions similar to those of a rally, but without the risk, we very much excited. After the paperwork we have allocated the jeep and we held a briefing on their use. An hour later, the big moment: we started! Our "caravan" was preceded by a jeep of the organization, and we covered the first km on smooth roads and rolling hills between countries on scenic mountain ridges. After crossing the center of Aix, we took the road to reach the famous wine cellars Marenco, from which we made a stop wine tasting with a rich buffet. Before leaving, we also bought some bottles, offered us a special price. The most adventurous trip was the afternoon: a full immersion in the nature of hills and woods, on country roads at times challenging but manageable for all, through almost uninhabited areas. Some of us, the more adventurous, there are also thrown in some very technical course on roads to steep thrills.
We returned home fortified with a unique experience, and over to be relaxed and have fun, we also found new friends among the companions of adventure has been a very successful weekend, which will repeat soon.
