Arrived in RIGA by bus from Palanga, Lithuania and visit the beautiful bustling city that is the largest in these Baltic republics with almost one million inhabitants. E 'included in the UNESCO list for its center of Art Nouveau, Jugendstil and Art Nouveau, which includes about 700 buildings. There are also two large churches with high towers, two castles museum, the jewel of a palace and Guilds, the House of Blackheads, which had a congregation of unmarried merchants of the Middle Ages. There are lively places with lots of music in the evening, beautiful gardens and parks and the modern section, near the historic center is just as beautiful with a channel, some nice parks and the Freedom Monument, a woman atop a tall column that supports three stars, the regions of the country.
Just outside RIGA from the fine beach IURMALA, 10 km of pristine sand and a pine forest on the side that houses wooden villas, hotels and spas that denote a century-old tourist tradition that sees above all the presence of the Russians, some of which are owners of the most exclusive villas.
In the eastern reaches you in a couple of hours in the beautiful town of Sigulda in a national park that includes a walking route of about 6 km between green landscapes, caves and castles including the famous tied Turaida allas tory of the Rose May a beautiful girl who preferred to die rather than betray the love and surrender to the insistence of a lover aggressor.
Finally I went to the south, near the border with Lithuania to visit the beautiful castle of Rundale, built in 700 by the Italian architect Rastrelli (who also designed the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg) for the Duke of Courland, favorite of the Empress of Russia. The building has about 180 by the yellow rooms of which only 40 have been restored and the gardens filled with red roses. In short, a visit that is worth making even by yourself, because you can get here by public transport since before the castle, despite all warnings to the contrary, including Lonely Planet's obviously not up to date.
