My trip in Lithuania
I visited this country in the context of a larger tour in the Baltic made with my Fiat Tipo (see also Latvia and Estonia). Came from the border with Poland to Kalvarija I visited the capital Vilnius. The old town has some interesting churches and buildings. At night stopover in the modern city of Panevezys, where I slept in a bell'Hotel. In the morning following passage in Latvia. Returning from Latvia and Estonia have crossed the border at Joniskis and I stopped in Siauliai in surroundings where there is the hill of crosses. Here, when the Catholic religion was banned by the Soviet Union, the faithful came to pray and laid crosses. Now the small hill is littered with thousands of crosses and pilgrimage. Even Pope John Paul II prayed on the hill of Siauliai. I left Lithuania crossing the border with the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, close to Pagegiai. The Nemunas river separates the two countries. This is not a journey for a traveler also in the period when I was there was extremely difficult to find petrol at the Lithuanian border with the enclave of Kaliningrad. To join in Kaliningrad need a transit visa which I obtained in two days in Tallinn in Estonia.
