Thursday 28.07.83
Departure from Milan at 6.30 am to Venice. In Trieste in Italy last refuel and then Yugoslav customs. Let us first stop in Ljubljana for a packed lunch. At 20:00 we are already in Belgrade but we do not find a free hotel for which we have to continue another 15 km, dinner at hotel.

Friday 29.07.83
We start at 7:30 from the outskirts of Belgrade, we Nis, Skopje and Gevgelija.

Nis
is especially important because it is a junction between Greda and Bulgaria. The city is anctica, originates with the name of Naissus by 180 AD View more stories about

Skopje
is the capital of Macedonia and is a modern city located on the river Vardar. The old town is located to the north, with many minarets of the narrow and winding Viette. The new part, however, arose after the disastrous earthquake of 1963 that made many victims.
The city created by the Romans under the name Scupi has a troubled history, was, in fact, destroyed and rebuilt several times by various peoples over the centuries. (Romans, Goths, several earthquakes, contention between Byzantium and the Slavs, Bulgarians, Byzantines again, the Turks and Bulgarians again)
Worth visiting the main square (Plostad M. Tito) with the Roman bridge which unites the old with the new; Ulica Samoilova, which is the main street of the old town with buildings Turks lantico of Daut Pasha Hamam of the Ottoman Empire. Of great interest a rich iconostasis in the wooden bell tower of the church built by the Austrians. The mosque (Mustafa Pasina Dzamija).
Nearby is the interesting monastery of St. Nikita for the beautiful frescoes.

Gevgelija:
is a small town bordering the wide valley of the Vardar. It 'very scenic route and the whole area is cultivated with cotton, and very interesting especially for those who see for the first time this type of crop. Near the lake's popular tourist Dojran.

Lunch, still in Yugoslavia, but with very good steaks in a restaurant with table cloths worn by now. Ripartimao motorway and take and a fine on the motorway for speeding of 30 thousand pounds.
Overcome the Greek customs, and we continue to Evzoni, then Thessaloniki, Katerini, Larissa, Volos and Lamia. Find hotels in Lamia. On the day we suffered a lot of heat.
