(Distance 880 km from home). Malta in June, a great surprise! In the middle of the Mediterranean, very British in alternate views views Sicilians living in a very special and attractive. Further no small thing is the fact that it is one of the few places outside of Italy where the language is no barrier: one is to understand without any problem even speaking in Italian. The airport is not far from the dense areas of the hotel (Saint Julian's, Sliema and Paceville are the best equipped and serviced by bus). Getting around is very easy and economical because of its typical bus, inherited by the English who used them during the Second World War and in this, we were very lucky because you probably will not have a long life because there is a massive change. With the recent entry into the European community, Malta has many sites around the island to make up for the trick and show its beauty with the best dress. Valletta is a city rich in history linked more to his knights and the period since that has left some Caravaggio works. The island has played an important role in the history of Europe and the Mediterranean: Very important was the siege at the hands of Muslims who resisted the island in a heroic manner persuading the Turks to conquer Europe by the project. Importance was held the same role in World War II, where Malta was strategically important base for the fate of the conflict. Are a few general considerations related to our living in which we especially enjoyed the month of June with very long days and especially uncrowded. The food is amazing with our meal featuring fish meat and above all: the island is a rabbit dish cooked with very spicy aromas typical "Arab" that make it very tasty. Not a place for those who love the beaches, with some exceptions, as most have access to the sea through the rocks. The population and very religious: the buses are filled with pictures of saints, altars illuminated and stickers bearing messages like, God loves you, God is salvation .... And on the streets, especially in La Valletta are madonnas and altars in almost every corner . You notice their true religious devotion and not of the southern facade is reminiscent of an Italy some time ago in view of the film. The Maltese people are friendly and quiet and we never had any problems. Very marked is the difference between coastal and inland cities, where there is a less care facilities and landscape but mostly what I think characterizes much this island: a mix of East and West all set in that Italy could probably be some time ago, ... Italy that is very present especially with the Sicilian pastry (I highly recommend the sweet sin in Sliema with excellent ice cream and slush beautiful, delicious cannoli and cassata freshly prepared). The temperature is very hot if you look at the position of the island is pretty much in Africa. We booked at the Regency hotel, very central and convenient for travel with the bus stop opposite the hotel door, with a beautiful sea view and swimming pool on the top floor. Below is a list of things that I believe should be seen in a visit to Malta:

Mdina is a typical center to center of the island where the rich Arab flavor lost in the alleys

Golden Bay one of the few beaches with sand from the reddish

Sea breathtaking Blue Lagoon this lagoon on the island of Comino reachable only by private ferry. The beach is practically nonexistent and you must fight for renting umbrellas that are resting on the rocks .. but worth it

Gozo can be reached by ferry's main attraction is the city of Rabat very characteristic

Typical Marsaxlokk fishing village hatreds of the port are the typical colorful Maltese boats and shape. There is a market where to find the typical tourist island

Very characteristic in Valletta streets where even the most remote dominates the dome of the church of Saint John where we were not able to enter and schedule problems. We have turned the city on foot without a precise destination, but delving into the basic instant inspiration: we shot in one afternoon under a sun piercing noting especially the typical balconies, and alleys of the Old Garden Shack. You have the constant feeling of being in a place with undefined outlines where Africa, Europe and Middle East are in continuous casting

Temples of Hagar Qim An experience that I would recommend as it is not particularly impressive, but mostly it is logistically difficult to reach by bus and steal a lot of time because the buses ply to Valletta very low frequency.
