Moldova is a historical region divided between two states with the treaties that followed World War II: Soviet Union and Romania. Then with the breakup of the USSR Soviet Moldova was further divided between Ukraine and Republic of Moldova. The part that I want to mention in this diary is that which belongs to Romania where it is located the ancient capital of the region throughout history: Iasi. I was in this city on many occasions and despite their remoteness from the traditional routes to Romania is a place worth visiting. It 'clear that present the most beautiful historical center dell'intrero country of which preserves the most beautiful monuments, Palazzo neogothic fiorito Stefan Cel Mare.
The great symbol of Iasi construction is preceded by the equestrian statue of Prince Stephen the Great, the national hero who with the help of Wallachian Voivodeship Vlad Tepes (Dracula) rejected the Ottoman advanced in Europe. For his exploits Stefan is merited praise from Catholics and the sanctification by the Orthodox. The bulk of the building with its elegant tower surrounded by the prospect of the long Bouleverd Cel Mare, which starts from here and then cross the entire city center alongside important architecture and construction time more diverse. Among these the ancient Church of the Three hierarchs from the walls richly carved with geometric figures, the vast Metropolitan Cathedral which houses the remains of Santa veneratissima Paraschi the neoclassical National Theater preceded by elegant public park, the City Hall. The city is surrounded by seven hills that the urban expansion has taken part in so much that some neighborhoods are like a real Tataras salts and downs of avenues. In one of the hills lies the isolated fortified citadel within the walls where there is a monastery. From here, as the hill of Bucium you can enjoy a beautiful view of the town. I was at Iasi in spring than in autumn than in winter and I must say that every season has its peculiarities. In a full winter blanket of snow covers the streets and monuments transforming the historic center, especially in the evening, in a fairytale. Autumn is celebrated in Santa Paraschi one of the most venerated by the Orthodox religion, in Iasi thousands of devotees come from around the country and beyond. In front of the Metropolitan Cathedral are formed long queues to pay homage at the tomb of the Saint. A spring is then an explosion of flowers in the many public parks. You can spend a few days in town without getting bored, there are the Museum of the Palace of Stefan Cel Mare, parks to walk like a big Copou and Botanical Gardens. Besides Iasi Moldova to the west offers a mountainous area dotted with rural villages and often far between them. There are also a few isolated monasteries in a sylvan environment of peace and serenity. Among these are particularly significant and the Secu Neamt located around the town of Tirgu Neamt. Happen in a day of celebration is a indimenicabile Hundreds of faithful are poured in the monastery, bringing food and fruits of the earth and then sit down together at a large table for lunch in the refectory and pray in communion with the monks. If you arrive here in a moment of celebration is special, get there on other days of the year is interesting, however, it is immediately shown in an atmosphere of absolute peace and quiet interrupted only by prayers. The churches of the monasteries dominated by large iconostasis, are small dark and smoky environments where we gather in prayer, we recommend their loved ones writing the names in a register, it places a bid. The monks who have a strange hat and long black beards uncultivated are always very friendly to the tourists. Secu and Neamt Monasteries are two similar but very close to where you can visit them both in a short time. Small churches are located within cloisters surrounded by a fortification wall on which to rely conventual environments. From here a road that runs between green mountains and crossed by streams leads to the artificial lake of Bicaz. This basin feeds the nearby hydropower plant that it regulates the flow of water so that I happened to see it is a maximum that practically empty path from the sun and the river that originates. The lake is crossed by a viaduct from which you can enjoy a good overview of the basin and the large isolated rock called "Devil." One of the most beautiful doors to Moldova is that through the gorges of Bicaz in a high mountain where the road winds close to the high peaks dolomitici.Alla end of the gorge the road passes through villages of wooden houses preceded by colors by a court where there is a well. Inside the houses are small, with two rooms connected directly with one another, usually there is a table flanked by a bed where he eats and sleeps. The atmosphere is heated by stoves wood fired clay and the walls are painted with pastel colors and have a Greek geometric designs. There is no shortage on the walls of the icons of saints and pictures in black and white faded by the time of the forebears. Women are dressed in dark clothes and head scarf. Near the village of Pipirig remember an isolated house only accessible through a tree trunk that over a stream, there lived an elderly woman who received me with great hospitality and milked his cow brought me warm milk from the refreshment of a cold winter snowy.
