the archaeological complex is located in the valley Orhei Raut, a right tributary of the Dniester, 60 km north-east of Chisinau, in an important area in terms of historical and geographical.
Orhei to nature and human civilization have blended organically, forming a perfect whole.
Orhei The museum complex is a system of historical monuments and natural landscapes situated on the promontory formed by the sinusoidal bed of the Raut of Trebujena and Butuceni.
The promontory is of irregular oval shape, oriented from west to east, with a length of 2000 meters and a maximum width of 700 meters, surrounded on three sides (north, east and south) of water Raut, with steep edges and rocky, with a height up to 100-120m, which is a natural fortress.
The cape is wonderful from the point of view of the landscape and unique archaeological tastes, which shows in every step of the ancient fortifications of earth and stone of the sacred complex of underground caves and other ancient relics to surprise and overwhelm every visitor.
In the central part of the promontory is a Christian Orthodox church, Santa Maria, built in 1904.
Today, as in ancient times, the promontory is crossed from east to west by a road.
