Neve, silenzio e ricordi Snow, silence and sad memories inside the fences of Auschwitz, Poland
In the living room in Krakow, Poland University gave us an extra day of total freedom to explore the city. With my colleagues we decided to visit one of the most famous concentration camps, an obvious choice to enter into a new and terrible page of history which we hope will not happen again. From the station in Krakow start at all hours of the small buses that connect the city to Auschwitz, a round trip ticket costs 20 szloty (can not remember the exact exchange rate, but very little). The entrance to the camp is free. It can be run independently or with the guides, also Italian. a shuttle bus runs between Auschwitz Birkenau, another famous concentration camp nearby, which is definitely worth visiting, and I unfortunately I could not because we have been misled by a sign stating that the service was discontinued on October 31 .. . but it was not true! What can I say .... chilling experience. Perhaps I had been "vaccinated" When I went to visit Tuol Sleng in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, but the emotions, the wonder, the sense of respect that there is going around the blocks of the field lli received all with the same intensity of the first time, is real. The blanket of snow and ice makes it even more terrible ....
