Black Sea, and Wallachia
it's time to bathe and rest after thousands of miles.
In short, we arrive at the
Constanta Romania and the second largest port city in the country.
Just before arriving in the center you go to Mamaia,
Romania's number one beach, with many hotels, clubs and facilities for entertainment of all types of swimmers.
Although Sunday's enormous beach, long and very large, pale yellow sand and rather windy, there were few people. We decide that it is not our place and we continue to Constance center.
It's Sunday and there is little traffic, we're still turning several streets in search of the center. We arrive in a trivial way and asking a guy we know that we are a stone's throw from the square with the statue of Ovid's native place.
The square is quite ugly and also the outline. Nearby is a road from which you can see the sea, beaches ugly and harbor facilities.
Let the modern center but we are tired, nervous and after a few kilometers of several central streets with some garden and decide to leave the south in search of better.
Let's Euphoria for North and South not far from Constance, but the jump with the intention of returning to visit them.
We arrive in Costinesti, a seaside resort frequented by young people, full of discos, pubs and many shops, bars and restaurants where we refreshed with great pizza and apple strudel.
The beach is nice, but small, flat, with thatched umbrellas.
We went over and visited a number of satellite towns with the names of planets: Olimp, Neptun, Saturn, Cap Aurora, Venus.
These places have been created by the communist regime for decades and hosted the lucky tourists Romanians but also thousands of tourists looking for low prices.
There are big hotels with the simple classical communist structure simple and unimaginative, and with prices around € 20 per room, a lot of greenery, beaches and other big hotels cared enough to Acapulco with modern style amusement park, trains for trips of lazy swimmers, but the whole gives the idea of being still in early or out of season. There are few tourists, many roads are being renovated and continue still not convinced.
We arrive in Mangalia,
Romania second largest port, with a large commercial port with huge cranes, a military port with some Rumanian Navy ships and an army barracks next door.
The beach is great but we do not like and therefore we go again.
Finally we come to the right place: Vama Veche and you could not go any further because there's a couple of km after the border with Bulgaria.
Vama Veche mean old customs. The beach is arched with small hotels and restaurants. There are many wooden buildings, but we are staying in a strange and original greek style hotel, Tunisian and Spanish.
The white façade is decorated with colorful ceramics reminiscent of Barcelona's famous architect Gaudi. Inside is a beautiful garden courtyard and swimming pool.
The rooms are simple but dignified.
We're going to dine in the restaurant owned by the hotel overlooking the beach and extends into the sea, so that you eat with the sea below and a beautiful sunset but in
Romania it is not the sea but inland.
We get the first feast of fish that will continue over the next few days.
Here they eat squid, sardines and then fried catfish and golden, a local species of sea bream, very good.
The white wine, the royal Feteasca in particular, is good, you can choose to dry and semi-dry or sweet, and after a few glasses gives a nice thrill that goes well with the sea breeze ....
Vama Veche in the 50-60-70 was the Capalbio
Romania with many politicians who came on holiday. Then he became a bohemian with many artists and now has found a new place: the young clubbers and hippies who come here from all over the country, particularly on August 10 when they celebrate a famous festival of disc jockey and the beach is invaded by 30,000 young people on nights of wild dances, and lots of beer bust.
Let the country but is almost nonexistent, but in fact there are few private homes and to find a real country you have to go in Mangaia and not worth it, after we were there.
However, the stay in Vama was very nice for a couple of days after which we decided to try with euphoria.
In fact we liked very euphoric North South Euphoria separated by an isthmus out of which one side is the sea and the other a big salty lake, Techirghiol with a lot of healing and Spa beach where baths are tried first of black mud that treat problems in joints and then left to soak in the salty waters of the lake.
They give you the mud spread like butter in a bucket and anoint you in this land that hold him for about twenty minutes and then you or do you shower or soak in the salt lake that seems to do very well and surprisingly does not burn the eyes .
North euphoria is rather high with the sea as you can see along a pleasant promenade. We have taken our best Stefanino hotel room, with excellent restaurant and delightful rooms decorated with red-brown or green velvets.
The beaches below are huge and very well, with umbrellas and chairs available to the few tourists for a fee. We preferred to stay in the shade after we literally burned to Vama Veche, where we were stupidly stayed all day in the sun without realizing the damage coming in because it was aired instead.
Euphoria at least this season has not started yet very calm, more suitable for families and young people and being a few miles from
Constanta, will need to fill its inhabitants, even with second homes which are certainly many people bought in this beautiful and restful place .
It 'was a pleasant stay at the seaside with the famous black water, which gets its dark but not black. The sea is quite rough and chilly, with waves of violence that you quite easily throw on BATIG.
After leaving the Black Sea by Euphoria lead us to Constance to take the new highway leading to the capital within hours.
Unfortunately stumbled in morning rush hour traffic of those who go to work in Konstanz.
After a while we get tired and try to avoid entering the city and further south on the freeway bypassing the city, but the accomplice missing street signs that are the main problem in
Romania, and the failure of our satellite, we lose the highway and without realizing we head further south.
Certainly we have traveled dozens of miles more, but we went through a very nice green area, meeting the Danube, bucolic scenes with sheep, fruit vendors on the roadside and pretty villages surrounded by green countryside with vineyards planted here also.
Found the highway and past a huge bridge that crosses a canal in a few hours we are in the capital along a great new highway, relaxing and very little traffic that has cost us about € 3 for about 200 km route!
And there's new problems for the entry into the capital, but we take the Ring road and messy because in rebuilding after a number of problems for the usual signs missing Ploiesti come back to that because we skip uninteresting.
After a hundred miles we finally reach the famous castle in Sinaia, which bears the name of Vlad Tepes, or Dracula's famous but that has nothing to do with the historical character.
