2007 holidays in Fuerteventura. The beauties of the Canaries, Spain

A 4-hour flight from Italy is a paradise called Fuerteventura, an island with stunning natural beauty throughout all surprising to discover. one week is too little but with a good dose of adventure in the heart can still do great things. I've visited far and wide, giving me even better than a visit to Lanzarote and I am fully satisfied with my holiday that will stay 'in the heart and in 1400 photos taken!

 

Let's go!!

Bologna airport, spent the night on chairs waiting for the flight that leaves at 8 am to Fuerteventura, we are thrilled and excited. After careful study guides and photos of the Canaries, we can not wait to be there. We have already 'roadmaps ready and the fact that over there' there is one hour less than in Italy gives us some valuable time ... a week is a little 'bit ... but we will give you to do.
Fuerte is the single most 'wild and at the same time tourist attrezzara, turns easily by car and has breathtaking scenery. We turn the whole and more'.... ACCOMPANIED by the constant wind and sun ...

Travel and village

We start on time and after 4:30 hours of travel we arrive and land in the only airport in Puerto del Rosario, the island's capital. The slopes are close to ocean, impressive to fly over the island at low altitude during the landing operations ... We arrive and the wind is immediately felt, the tour operator is organized and present, after an hour we are at the village Oasis Dunas in Corralejo in the far north of the island. The village is accolgiente, beautiful, furnished with everything, very large with 3 swimming pools, sun beds, tennis courts, a supermarket, a large reception and common areas. We rely on our apartment that is clean, tidy and very welcoming. After a quick lunch we decide to spend the day in the pool and in the village to recover from the trip. The pools are salt water, there is a pool bar, the day is beautiful and solace there till late afternoon. For the next day is already 'provided a nice stop: the island of Lobos.
In the evening we go out to explore the town of Corralejo, big, friendly, lively. Rooms, many people, music ... the harbor is a focal point of the country, full of shops and businesses, boats and people. E 'equipped with everything, supermarket, car rentals, souvenir shops, internet points .....
The night is full of life but we have a far from restful weeks then back to the village and get a good night's sleep.

Isla de Lobos

We boarded at 11:00 from the port of Corralejo and after 20 minutes we are at Lobos. A small volcanic island resulted from an eruption. The island has impressive landscapes and lunar, the vegetation is almost nonexistent, there is only a very rustic restaurant and several housing developments, there are no shops. We start exploring the island has a rocky landscape of volcanic rocks and a strong wind blows constantly. After an hour's walk along the paths are well defined a sandy beach where we stop and swim in ocean waters and crystal. Let's continue our journey and arrive at the mountain or the caldera volcano that you can visit and climb to the summit. Going over there is a salt lake that is drying, all around a lush vegetation. unperturbed walking all day, turning the whole island, snapping great pictures and quite tiring. The next day we plan to rent a car to get around the island of Fuerte. Meanwhile the village on our return we booked for the trip to Lanzarote scheduled for Wednesday.

Traveling freely

We rent a powerful Ford Fiesta for 3 days and immediately we stage the national park of the dunes of Corralejo, an extension of the Sahara desert, great sand dunes almost white who jump into the ocean blue. Beautiful and impressive spectacle along 6 km. The landscape changes abruptly turning into hills and volcanoes now active. We head into the town of La Oliva small but cozy. From here 'arrive in the beautiful historic city of Betancuria certainly worth a visit. Canariota typical small town with white houses, cactus and aloe vera was the old capital of the island. It 'a small town living and ancient, is internal and has no beaches. A street with a lunar landscape leads us to Ajuy, on the west coast of the island from the open side of the ocean to America. Here beaches of black volcanic sand and a belvedere overlooking the ocean's attention. A long walk along the rocky coast gives us landscapes from photos and the ocean beats violently against the rock, gray and white. A large bay with large natural caves we catch, the water is blue and sometimes green, the wind continues to accompany us forever. The beauty of the rocky ocean coastline give way to the great white sand beach of El Cotillo when we arrive at the tower and the fortress of El Cotillo. A perfect place is full of tourists, the high cliff and then the sand and the cold sea. We spent the day at the beach in huge waves and a place worthy of note.
In the evening we step on unpaved roads in search of a restaurant for dinner and loss side of the ocean take pictures in the beautiful sunset. Then end up in a room on the port of Corralejo to eat Paella.

Jandia peninsula

You start in a good hour to reach the final goal as the peninsula of Jandia in the far south of the island. Along the way but 'do the stages in the first place we stop in Caleta de Fuste, a tourist village very vital and colorful. Let then a quick stop in Tarajalejo, with a long deserted beach and a stroll along the sea. Straight to the beach of Sotavento we advance into the hills to a vast lagoon of crystalline water. A pre-ocean zone with shallow water and islands that emerge from the water, palm trees, vegetation and sand. Many water sports practiced in this slice of the sea .... Windsurfing, surfing, kite surfing ...
But we see 'more' forward another beach very attractive and so we move 'towards a heaven on earth.
Huge dunes of fine yellow sand, blue sea and blue, wind and waves .... the edge of the sand thick vegetation and then ... rocky hills. The phenomenon of the tides creates a game of puddles here and there and so 'sand dunes out to sea off the beach and miles ... and the place is crowded with tourists. Many naturists but also not to shelter from the wind there are niches of rocks on the sand. We spent the rest of the afternoon bathing in the waters crystal clear and fresh, the sun is high in the sky and is still hot. It 'hard to go away and so' we decide not to return immediately to Corralejo but to try to reach the far south, to where the paved road does not end ... so 'join Morro Jable, Jandia lighthouse and some amazing landscapes .
The return trip will last 'more' than two hours ... passing between plantations, hills, lava flows and ancient farms of the famous kid of Fuerteventura.

From the salt flats to the American Star

The last regions where we have the car we visit the capital, which is a classic big city 'of monuments and the great sea port. Right after we stop to visit the Salina del Carmen which is very interesting and visit with only 5 euros. Continuing on we stop at Grand Taraji which is a tourist and paesone nice. From here we get to the sea ... the rocky coast of La Pared. Dark rock, coast battered by strong winds, goose angry hounds with furious waves on the high cost and small beach. The landscape is very beautiful. Lanzarote

Almost an hour by ferry from the port of Corralejo and we arrive at Playa Blanca on the island of Lanzarote is an island full of beautiful scenery worthy of note. We stop in a typical cellar where you can sample the typical local wine and do some shopping. Another step before reaching Jameos de Agua. Last Day

The last day ... how sad ... we rent two bikes and go in the park of the dunes where we expect the famous and beautiful beach at Flag Beach. The surfer's beach, long, sandy stretches for miles and the sea is between the blue and green. In the morning the tide is low and the sea is far away from the few umbrellas that are rented for 9 euros. Gradually the sea salt yards apprima of creating pools of crystal clear water and then reaching the beds on the sand. Clean water, yellow sand, sometimes some volcanic rocks make the landscape spicy and curious. behind us ... There is only sand dunes wind today but spend a leisurely day at sea and sun. Fter a photo of the other, a bath after the other and comes the end of a beautiful day.
With sorrow in the heart back in our village, knowing that the next day we go.

Hasta la vista, Fuerte!

at 12:00 the flight to Bologna and we are at the airport with a bad taste in mouth, we want to stay who knows' how much and feel that if only we'd had a few more days we could still see something or go to the beach or reliving breathtaking scenery.
