A weekend in a city that I had never visited and I wanted some time to see ... unfortunately it was the classic "Toccata and Fugue" with very little time left ... because of this, however, we were resigned to 'idea of not being able to see everything and we concentrated on a few things trying to better enjoy this trip.
Madrid appeared to me immediately a happy marriage between modernity and tradition, a city advanced in many ways is proud of its peculiarities ... vital, colorful (not only in the broadest sense, I mean the true colors: green, red exhibitions of old wooden shops that populate the streets of downtown).
For the record we had booked a room at 'HostalCruzSol in Plaza de la Cruz, practically a few steps from the Plaza Mayor, Plaza del Sol, the center and the nightlife! is a 2 star but clean, comfortable and economical.
Discover and learn about me is visiting Madrid for the Prado ... an 'intense emotion, he walked relaxed enjoying the sun at Parque del Buen Retiro, having wandered aimlessly in the evening between the people and the local have been snooping on Sunday morning at the stalls of the flea market and then go and drink a cold beer to Chueca and know a 'flip side of this city ... more popular, perhaps more authentic ..
As for the cuisine we experienced and we were good everywhere, but roughly I think merit particular: "the TIA cebolla" (Calle Mayor) and "en busca del tiempo" (Calle Barcelona) and certainly a visit to one of many museums Jamon i boccadillos calamares with fried instead proved a big disappointment despite those who say that are a delight ... But traveling is good for that too!
