August in Andalusia? Gag ......
That 'a common dispel: to be hot,' hot (40 degrees) but the dry climate and 'more tolerable' of 33 degrees of humid sultry summer in Bologna, and in the evening the Sierra Nevada mountains with more 'high in all of Spain, brings a nice cool breeze. Also in August in Andalusia and 'off-season, which allows you to stay in hotels of high level spending little. For the rest, Andalusia and 'as one where the wait, full of folklore, history, culture and fun.
Our journey and 'started in Cordoba, an ancient city' seat of the Arab caliphate, of which track is especially beautiful in the Mezquita, the mosque piu 'grande throughout the West, now "converted" in the cathedral. We stayed at the Conquistador (www.hotelconquistadorcordoba.com), 4 stars to 52 euros per room per night, very beautiful and opposite the Mezquita! More 'central so .... The other particularity 'of the Cordoba patios, that' the open-air courtyards, rich in plants and flowers. Even restaurants have patios, which makes the dinner even more 'pleasant. By the way, we must try, in addition to Andalusian gazpacho, the salmorejo cordobesa, traditional dish like gazpacho, but with the addition of breadcrumbs and Iberian jamon. Very good also the chorizo al vino, and the rabo de toro (bull tail) I was not impressed. For wine, Rioja and 'the Spanish equivalent of Chianti, and just as good. In Cordoba, and then 'nice run aimlessly through the narrow streets of the Arab quarter, full of souvenir shops, and possibly have the experience dell'hammam (24 euros), that' the Arab baths, very nice.
Cordoba after we went to Seville, the capital of the Arab kingdom and the center of current 'Andalusia. E 'una citta' very big and busy, so it 'better to stay in the central area of Santa Cruz and then turn on foot. We were at Amadeus (www.hotelamadeussevilla.com), very refined, with a friendly atmosphere and a wonderful panoramic terrace (70 euros). In 10 minutes walking you reach the Cathedral and the Giralda tower and the Alcazar, the royal palace of Arab sultans and kings Catholics. Molto bella la Plaza de Espana, and the pleasant walk along the Guadalquivir to the Torre del Oro.
Seville and 'the city' ideal to watch a flamenco show.
From Seville, we went to Ronda, white village in the mountains, with a high bridge that connects the two sides of the old city, divided by a cleft, and the Plaza de Toros more 'old from all over Spain.
In Malaga we had the pleasant surprise of "bump" in the Feria del Verano: music and dancing in the streets, bullfights, and the delirium of people in the Recinto de Feria, with casitas, music and wine in abundance throughout the night! ! Unfortunately, due Feria, we found just the place for a (short) night. The hotel was central but not memorable.
After an excursion to Mijas, white village inland from Malaga, then we went to Granada, the city 'dell'Alhambra, the magnificent palace of the Arab sultans overlooking the city' from the top of the hill. To avoid hours in a row, and 'must buy your ticket in advance (www.alhambratickets.com).
The sultans were really a good life.
To sleep, we followed the advice of Tony Quintili (gracias, tio!) And we went all'hostal Veronica (www.hostalveronica.com), clean, central and cost (40 euros), to eat, an authentic Andalusian institution for tapas and 'la Bodega CastaƱeda, where you eat standing chatting and socializing with the Spaniards, including an average of bacalao racion and a glass of tinto de verano ".
Granada e 'la citta' piu 'Arabs in all of Spain, and the district appears to be an Arab souk in Istanbul, with its shops carpets and lamps, the teterie, crafts.
After we shared Granada to Madrid, a stop in Consuegra, with the hill in which Don Quijote fights' his battle against the windmills, and one in Toledo, an ancient city 'surrounded by medieval walls. Finally, the capital, Madrid, the Royal Palace, the Cathedral dell'Almudena, the Prado Museum, the shopping area of Plaza del Sol, the great tree-lined boulevards and elegant buildings. The ideal place for fun, shopping and live the city '.
Hasta pronto!
