Fortnight in Gran Canaria, to enjoy the climate and the beauty of these wonderful islands.
From Maspalomas Meloneras Hiking up the coast, the difference from the dunes is impressive, dark stones, as big as melons.
We chose an excursion organized the tour of the island the "Presa Canario" to better understand the soul of Gran Canaria. We go up north, the first step is Telde, perched village, where the public baths are within the municipal offices. Will then continue towards the mountains, beautiful landscape, we see the Canarian pine, particularly able to retain what little water and humidity in the area. Roque Nublo and soar on the Pico de las Nieves. You may be able also to see the summit of Teide, Tenerife and, therefore, but the day is not clear, on the other hand you see in the distance, the dunes of Maspalomas. Walking down a barranco we stop for lunch near all'Ensamble de la Chira, an artificial lake, there is shown the preparation of the "mojo canario" the typical sauce. Arrive at a thousand corners Fataga, a village where water is only available on Tuesday.
Then we rented a car and go to explore the island. Puerto de Mogan is a small fishing village, full of colorful bougainvillea. We visit the island's capital, Las Palmas, the old town is nice, all-around the farmhouse, perhaps the home of Christopher Columbus, who they say did stop here and then go to the "New World". Beautiful cathedral, for the rest of the city is a bit 'chaotic or we who have become "banana"? Climbing on top of a hill we admire the Caldera de Bandama where the road runs right along the crest of the crater of an extinct volcano.
Another stop, ever northward, Arucas, narrow village streets and uphill, is the birthplace of rum to the honey. We continue to Firgas, charming place with a narrow hill, surrounded by tiled seats, one for each "municipio" of the island. On the pavement playing scale Canarian archipelago. Moya offers breathtaking views and a white church. In San Felipe admire the ocean waves, along the road seems Galdar and it is amazing to see how the houses are climbing along the slopes of the mountain. Arrive at Agaete and the beach you can see the rock called "Dedo de Dios".
The west coast is very rough which is only up to Mogan, wedged between barren mountains. Visit the palm Park, not far from Maspalomas, here it is just warm, with the park channeled through the cliffs, standing in the sun waiting for the show. ... Seems to be sitting on hot coals in Lanzarote.
PS: At this point we just experienced the Canary Islands, if you need advice do not hesitate to ask.
La Palma, the island is a mountain, I was told as beautiful, but it should go in the spring, because the small beach under the rocks have a totally black sand. Go hiking in the mountains only to make me seem a little 'wasted, with the Dolomites to a couple of hours drive away.
