Gran Canaria island is almost entirely rocky and barren landscape reminiscent of the Wild West, not surprisingly many old movie sets of films were prepared in this very harsh and wild land, but rich in natural beauty ... first of all the amazing dunes of Maspalomas .. soft sand hills facing the sea. Although strenuous, a walk in Maspalomas is a unique experience, despite being on the 18, the sand was hot! But when you're in front of a show like this, many hardships are forgotten.
The dunes follow each other until you reach the black sand beach of Playa del Ingles, crowded with tourists from England, Germany and Scandinavia, full of bars and restaurants tailor-made for them and very little authentic. Seem to go for the largest Irish pub with live music .. I wonder though .. What has to Gran Canaria?

The multi-ethnic village of Playa del Ingles does not satisfy us much, although the beach is wide and very scenic.

We stay in Puerto Rico, which is set in the same way, so many avenues of shops and attractions for the customers mainly British. The beach is small but very refined with black sand and crystalline waters.
The next day, however, we decide to move to the famous white beach of Anfi del Mar, this lovely tropical beach, with sand in the Bahamas, belongs to a luxury hotel, but, fortunately, the administration of the island does not grant a none of the exclusive beaches, so, everyone can go to Anfi del Mar and park your towel on any point.

For Anfi you relax a mess! The sand is smooth and white as the sea takes on a turquoise color, the same goes for the beach of Los Amadores, although, unlike the backdrop Anfi del Mar is full of blacks and stones must be careful not to get hurt feet.

Proceeding from Playa de los Amadores, through a winding road near the cliffs, we arrive at Puerto Mogan, a truly delicious. The town is perched on a rock up and down the picturesque port, with whitewashed houses decorated with bright colors, bridges, canals that lead toward the sea and colorful flowers everywhere! One of the things that struck me most of this island are just the flowers of all shapes and colors, bright and fragrant .. many of them are esportanti around the world and also reach our stores.

We decide to make a quick visit also the island's main city, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a very affasciante although really chaotic. We were stuck in traffic or long lost among the one-round .. but once you have parked your car, the city is really very nice show.
The downtown is collected but really nice. To visit, the finely decorated colonial mansion they called "House of Columbus," even if it is not likely that it was in fact, but inside, there's a nice patio and a courtyard in Spanish colonial style, as well as a collection reconstructions of objects related to the period of great geographical discoveries.

From the historic ideal is to continue the walk along the promenade of Triana down to the small city park where a refreshment and colorful art nouveau catch the eye of tourists because it is superfotografato in all the guides that are encountered in market.
The north island is often cloudy and windy, so we look forward to returning to the sunny south to enjoy a little 'the white beach of Anfi del Mar.

PRACTICAL ADVICE:

1) hire a car unlimited km, is the best way to be independent island

2) to rent a house for their stay, they cost very little and are well equipped, do not recommend this B & B because the restaurants in tourist areas are mostly British and Scandinavian and also expensive, as well attuned to the reality of that little place

3) Go for a walk to Maspalomas after 19 and strictly carry sneakers

4) Try not to bother if 80% of tourists (young and) sunbathe topless

5) Taste the good mojo sauces (green and red) with potatoes or the fried octopus. The best restaurants of local cuisine can be found in Puerto Mogan.
