Travelers: Tano and Catherine

Meta: The island of Formentera from 4 July to 14 July 2007

Before you leave: research on the internet, travel diaries of various travelers
Bookings: Flight A / R, Palermo-Milan Malpensa, and A / R Milan Malpensa - Ibiza with Vueling, the Hotel Cala Saona Hotel booking from the internet (http://www.hotelcalasaona.com/it/index.php Tel 971 32 20 30 Fax 971 32 25 09 e-mail: hotelcalasaona@teleline.es)

Arrived in Ibiza, we took the ferry to the island of Formentera. This meta meta allowed us to spend ten days in total relaxation. Since the distances on a human, we have considered renting a car unnecessary preference for a 125 scooter.
The hotel is booked at the back of Cala Saona and has a truly exceptional panoramic view (it booked at least two months to secure the rooms with sea view) at a reasonable price (€ 70.00 per night the room). You could find cheaper hotels but without air conditioning (a fine outing proved of little use).
The beaches are running smoothly and should be selected on the basis of daily weather conditions. Particularly beautiful are: Cala Saona, Illetas beach, the island of Espalmador, and some areas of Long Beach Mitjorn (White, yellow, etc.)..
To reach the wild and lonely island Espalmador there are two possible alternatives to reach the tip of the beach of Illetas swim until you reach the island or taking comfort from the small boat harbor Bahia. We have tried both. Quest'isoletta feature, as well as having certain traits in the sand is pink to have inside, amid the vegetation, a place where there are pools of mud.
The day usually begins at 9:00 with breakfast and the usual choice of place to go. After reaching the right place with the scooter and square umbrella we have always focused on long walks. In the evening we went in search of local carini which I can recommend:
• El Mirador for its wonderful sunset in the ascent up to the Pilar Mola
• El Caminito Argentinean restaurant with swimming pool in connection road between Es Pujols and the beach of Illetas
• El mole de sal near the beach of Illetas
• Fondapepe restaurant of hippies in San Ferran
The largest center of the island, Sant Francesc, animated by day a nice market, the evening is literally the desert, so after dinner the only alternative to going to bed is a small town of Es Pujols where you are in Italy (will be surrounded by Italians). For Es Pujols, there are several clubs for after dinner is nice to walk in the alleys between the various spaces and along the seafront.
You must not miss the two lighthouses on the island and "old salt" who in the summer to offer visitors the vision of the process of crystallization of salt. Particularly in the area of Pilar Mola is not uncommon to see the Lizard characteristic symbol of Formentera.
NB: The evening temperature is cooler than in Sicily so the wear anoraks and sweaters.
