Me and my husband, Roberto, we visited Menorca in August 2005 almost by chance because our original destination was to be Sharm and then with the attack that there was just a few days before our departure we had to change our goal and we Agency has "hijacked" in Minorca, and has been for us lived almost as a fallback, but we soon realized that a fallback because it was not Minorca was a wonderful surprise. Minorca is an island wilderness still far from tourism as its invasive cousins Ibiza, Formentera and Mallorca and still possesses unspoiled coves all to discover. This is the second largest island of the Balearic island, bathed by the Mediterranean Sea and has a length of about 48 km and a maximum width of 16 km. The island has been declared by UNESCO, biosphere reserve.
We rented the car for a day and we visited the most remote from the residence of Cala en Bosh. For the rest of the days we rented a scooter and we made a lot of km to the turn of our wheels 2. To find the scooter, we have taken great pains in August because the demand is high, then why not hire scooters there are so many, also the island is large and it is all in a scooter lasts! The rent that we used we Pepe's motion is, in Cala en Bosh. We spent 2 weeks in this beautiful island and have just enough to see it all. Famous beaches, there are many among them Cala Macarella and Macarelleta, Cala En Turqueta, Cala Pregonda, Cala Mitjana and Mitjaneta, etc. Es Talaier., Certain reachable after walking more or less long through dirt paths. Another famous beach and personally my favorite is Cala Pregonda, located in the northern part of the island. A masterpiece of nature, golden sand bathed by the Egypt-style turquoise waters that can only Minorca ... .. we thought it was .... Accidentals, Egypt at the end we found here in Menorca! The beach is reachable in 20 minutes of walking under the scorching sun and dirt track, but the small effort will be rewarded by the beauty of the place.
Another beach bar by tourists Cala Galdana is very pretty in my opinion, flanked by a mountain on which there is a carinissimo path from which to enjoy the view of the bay from above. The water is transparent. The beach is equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, ribs and all around are shops in which to shop for souvenirs. The only flaw of this beach is that behind it is a monstrous built by hundreds of hotel rooms that some ruin 'the idyllic scenery but not enough to watch it ... ... ... ...! But do not be discouraged by this, the beach is worth a visit.
Algaiarens is a magnificent beach and a protected biosphere reserve. To access it you pay about 1 € or 2 depending on whether you come by car or scooter and then after covering a piece in motion, everything else is on foot but it's worth it. On the beach there are many nudist all coated with clay that is said is very good for your skin. The clay can be found near the rocks, just scrape with a rock, mixed with a little 'water and pappina is ready! We've tested and after the skin is apparent soft! Funny photos of rite all dirty!
Another beach that we visited is that of Cala en Porter, famous precisely for its beach but especially for the "Cova d'en Xoroi", a cave overlooking the sea in which it was obtained a nightclub which is among the most popular in Europe. You can also visit during the day and serves as an excellent meeting place for an aperitif, where at sunset enjoy a truly unforgettable scenery! Really be included in your trip.
Not far from here and absolutely IMPERDIBILE is the town of Binibequer, near the capital Mahon and ancient fishing village. The village is wonderful and is nicknamed the country of cream and chocolate because it is characterized by the presence of houses with white roofs marroni.Queste all houses are built close to each other and within is un'intrecciarsi of alleys and narrow arches. You will be without words, just as we were ourselves.
Son Bou Beach is another (with the capital S) because it is an expanse of white sand about 4 km and is different from the usual bays that characterize the island. It 'south of Minorca at about 20 km from Mahon . Very similar is St. Thomas.
Do not miss a visit to Ciutadella, with its Old Town and the port area in the evening where you meet a nice marketplace and you can dine in places that line the harbor. Ciutadella is one of the few venues for the evening together in Cala en Bosh which also offers many local communities which have lunch or dinner on the pier and many clothes shops and souvenir very characteristic. We were just in Cala en Bosh, to Marinda Garden, very nice residence in which we are capitati roulette with the formula and we must say to our approval. The rooms at our bungalows are spacious and the kitchen. There is a large pool in which the usual activities organized by the village as water polo, water etc etc.. a restaurant in which we have never eaten because we were always outside, and a theater which shows serali.Il organize all immersed in a beautiful well-kept garden. Rating very good.
Recommended restaurants: ES MOLI 'DES RACO' Es Mercadal location (address: c / Major 53 Tel.971 37 53 92). Hours from 13 to 16 and from 19 to 23. The restaurant is an old mill renovated and offers typical dishes and paella Minorcan truly galactic. The atmosphere is charming.
In conclusion Minorca was a beautiful and unexpected that advice to people who want to go to sea but to sweat a little 'to find the most beautiful coves and enjoy the spectacle that nature provides.
