My university, around October, he issued a call to select 5 lucky students to participate in the project Medical Development in Europe, a sort of meeting between the University of Cagliari, Stockholm and Krakow. The project is to spend about a week in each university, be aware of different realities, to socialize with students, present a draft power point at the end of the course on specific medical topics assigned to us once we were divided into groups , mixed of course. Everything was completely paid by the university and they received more than 6 credits! How to say no? In addition, Stockholm and Krakow've never visited! In short, once the application is able to be among the 5 lucky to go!!
Advance now that my initial enthusiasm was soon faded, as ever, you say? Perhaps I had done wrong idea of Stockholm, maybe because I was ill, perhaps because for me it was difficult to compare with Swedish and Polish students, whose English level was sky high compared to mine, perhaps because the winter is not is the ideal season to visit the Nordic countries ..... In short, I went home very disappointed!
Stockholm is a city that I failed to appreciate much; in 8 days it snowed incessantly, so much so that the snow came at the start almost to the knees in the old town Gamla Stan is quite disappointing, the Christmas markets much-vaunted really poor; the only thing that I liked enough was the Skansen park (there is a very nice old village with shops, who works in glass by the baker to the bookseller, etc.) together at the zoo where you can see the reindeer, too bad for the polar ice and the snow falling relentlessly, the Vasa also nice, although once the ship seen from every possible angle, there's not much to see.
For the rest, the thing I remember with more affection and the staff of Swedish professors who followed us in this adventure: Professor Hans and Birgitta. The teachers relate to students with much more confidence than ours, vice-parents are like, really nice and available! think that the first day, the professor has joined us downtown to deliver to each of us inside the folder with the schedule of classes, the transport map and a weekly ticket to the metro paid by the Karolinska Institute! Also at the end of the course has hosted a dinner at his house (the Swedish houses are cute, very comfortable) with lots of drink, was truly one of the highlights of the holiday!
The university is fabulous and is a building outside the city but very well-served by the means, huge, with a table that I would compare to a real restaurant ours, comfortable classrooms, and the change of every hour we needed tea or coffee with cakes and sandwiches! Incredible!
