1st DAY - LUCERNE

It's best to start well the Christmas holidays is make a short trip in the countries of northern Europe, to breathe a real Christmas atmosphere.

Christmas there is really a tradition to observe, to dust the old customs and old values.

We start by car from Milan and we arrive in the town of LUCERNE, Switzerland for lunch. The road through the passage of S. Gottardo, presents no difficulty and proceed smoothly.

LUCERNE, situated on the lake, is not particularly rich in monuments, however, has a beautiful old town, in a cheerful little squares of which we find our hotel.

The LUCERNE is a symbol of the famous covered bridge, but then discover that the bridges are 2 and the oldest and decentralized is the best. Look in the windows in the shops but not buy anything the prices are for us Italians literally prohibitive. Lunch of excellent breizel cheese (salt bread in the shape of a heart) the inevitable and buy chocolate bars that devoured instantly. For the purchase of chocolate recommend avoiding the expensive shops in the old city while it is preferable to buy in the supermarket near the center where you can find the same brands at prices far more reasonable.

In the evening we decide to dine in fast food, the Swiss cuisine does not deserve such a disbursement of money!

2nd DAY - FREIBURG

We have documented and we found that FREIBURG is home to one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany.

FREIBURG is a city essentially modern but with a core with colored oldest buildings in which is placed the Christmas market.

Many decorations, lights and smells typical of Christmas. In markets are primarily produced dell'artigianto and local Christmas traditions, decorations, candles, and many houses all delicacies to taste. Lunch with the good things that we find the marketplace. To warm up you can drink the mulled wine (hot spiced wine) served in the cups made for the occasion. As in any market for Christmas, if you do not want to retain the cup thing of the marketplace, you can make it after having drained the contents and you will be refunded the amount paid.

We visit the streets of the center, crossed by canals curious water about 50 cm wide. I do not understand that function or have had in the past, the fact remains that constitute the particularity of the city.

For dinner not admit discussions and drag my boyfriend in one of the many Italian restaurants in town: un po 'd'patriotism is not bad, especially at meal hours!

3rd DAY - COLMAR AND BACK AT HOME

Let our ultra-modern hotel near the station of FREIBURG to head towards the nearby French border, in the Alsatian town of COLMAR.

Christmas here is truly an event to celebrate with huge citizen: even the beautiful facades of the houses are already decorated with pine frames, Santa Claus climbing, Lucina, flakes, and so on. The result is amazing! The city already has her beautiful, with its lovely timbered houses (with wooden frames) and the channels that form the "Petite Venise". This is a "Venice", however, most colorful and cheerful, with colorful facades of the houses. But at Christmas this is further enhanced by the many Christmas decorations everywhere and the many Christmas markets, with their characteristic wooden house for sale, located in every town square.

We decide that a Natale COLMAR deserves more than a hasty stop on the path of return and so we decide to organize for next year, for a more thorough visit during which Christmas markets here are as of end November, with the beginning of 'Advent.
