Despite the references in literature, Sherlock Holmes, Mary Poppins and Harry Potter ... London is not just my city, it will be for the climate, it will be for the people, or simply that I will be enthused to 14 years and apart from the Pink Floyd there's nothing that I liked at me like that again. .. In any case having the opportunity to have a free room in a hotel a short walk from Hyde Park and an airline ticket on two free I thought it should be too picky, and so here I am to make another trip to London for a vacanzina spring. Arrived May 5 (and was ...) in the late afternoon, a trip between the pub and then went to sleep.

May 6
The hotel is well located, a stone's throw from Paddington and Lancaster Gate station then raggiungibilissimo from Heathrow, this is the Royal Sussex Hotel is a charming three-star and quite clean, the rooms are small but and noisy ... if you are to lower floors in the metro passes and generally being an old hotel has wooden floors and move any step above your head there appears to collapse the roof on top! However a caval donato non si guarda in bocca! Our first day begins in a pouring rain, so we move into the underground and we are in the sunny atrium of the British Museum.
The British is the only thing that exists for free in London, but nevertheless it is indeed a wonderful museum, in addition to the famous Egyptian, the metopes of the party are absolutely off the wind and the entire museum is studied in minute detail with explanations and opportunity deepening remarkable.
The museum does not have the size of the Louvre, nor the Metropolitan in New York, so if you love art council strongly dedicate a good part of the day and try to visit them all. After the visit we go to Piccadilly Circus to meet my friend Tiziana who lives in London for the past two years and her way of steak and chips in a traditional pub.
Will be in 14 years that the lights shine more, but the neon of Piccadilly not sparkle as it once more ... nothing to do: London does not have the decadent charm of Paris, nor the splendor of New York. A walk among the shops closed, and via a nanna.

May 7
The next day, for a change ... it rains! So we continue in the wake of the Museums and will move to the Tate Modern. In this case, although this is beautiful to MoMa in New York but one of the desires of my life has always been to take care of museum management and I must say that this is the museum of my dreams. The collections are not present stravolgenti some Ricasso, Dali, Rotko excellent, but clearly if you compare to the already mentioned MoMa this is a very small thing ... why this museum is so interesting is precisely the logic with which the collections are designed, not ridda orgiastic works one after the other, but huge sale where you hear "breathe", the artists well contextualised, a comparison in an exalted and proud. The main collection is free, while the exhibitions are paid. We would like to cross the Thames via the pedestrian bridge, but having regard to the rain lashing rintaniamo us in the restaurant of the Museum and to eat two sandwiches asphyctic spend the equivalent of the GDP of Burundi.
Stops raining we rushed on deck and let the other side ... but not just crossed the Thames here is that the time increases and starts to hail.
We come to St. Paul, the ticket cost a fortune, but I wanted to climb the dome and then I thought "money well spent, however," ... only because of strong wind access to the dome is not angry and I like a Cerberus for sensational package!

May 8
The next day, the weather has improved slightly, there is wind and clouds, but at least it does not rain, we make a nice walk in the area of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, the royal household. But frankly I did not want to be waiting for the changing of the guard there to walk ... the building of the Horse Guards to finally arrive in the area of Big Ben, dell'House of Parliament and the former Westminster, alongside the wheel "the London eye."

May 9
The next day you go shopping! Sin, however, that London is dearest and frankly the most elegant boutiques are the same in many other places ... while if you are outside the international brands of things to buy there is very little. Even here the comparison with "The Big Apple" does not play in favor of London. There prices were much smaller and boutique chic moooolto more sciccose!
We also do a walk in the area of Covent Garden, and then we move into the area of Piccadilly Circus. Given that "strangely" not raining, but still a cold Executioner, we puntatina from Harrod's.
E 'as always the triumph of kitch, with its staircases in the purest style faux Egyptian, its immense galleries and overloaded ... reminds me of the excesses and the taste of the First Lady dell'orrido D. .. Lady Diana we pre-Versace ... collettoni with the helmet and the gold ... in short, even here nothing to do with Saks Fifth Avenue.
The only department that I really like is the food ... with all its the seasoned, the biscuits and jams.

May 10
Today seems to be the sun ... a pale sun for charity, there's an absurdity to be cold in May ... but so much so that we can finally make a visit to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London! The ticket is expensive but I must say that it's worth, the crown jewels are sparkling as ever and that there is not much we can spend in front of crowds of two or three times ... eh si ... because now we have a beautiful front tapis roulant so that people are crowded there too long before going to clog the tunnels! When there is confusion is really depressing: a peek and go! The tower of London is very big and there are many things to see, one thing that I liked is that on the lawn there are two types in medieval costumes that illustrate the art of combat with swords and daggers, so nice and very funny you learn something.

May 11
Last day before departure, we are a little 'tired and we remain in the area, so let's walk to the Kensington Park, after a stop and the surroundings at Memorial statue dedicated to Peter Pan. A walk along the artificial lake, we move adjacent Hyde Park. The park is huge and if there was the sun and we had a nice bike I would have just enjoyed! Well now again. E 'stato un bel weekend long though London is still far from the heart, but any trip along with my fries are always good!
