The British Museum in London is considered one of the most precious of the world for the vastness and the value of the collected material, the most spectacular is the section devoted to antiques.
The enormous amount of treasures of the museum covers over two million years of history and civilization.
The 94 tunnels, whose length is over 4 km, have been divided into specific areas. The museum houses six million objects that bear witness to the history and material culture of humanity from its origins to today, but many of them are stored in the basement for lack of space. It is located in Great Russell Street.La Great Court of the Queen Elizabeth II is a large square courtyard, which is the size of a square at the center of the museum. Covered by a magnificent glass dome designed by Norman Foster for the study and opened in December 2000, is now the largest covered square in Europe. The steel structure supports 1656 panels of glass, all different in shape and size. At the heart of the Great Court is the reading room vacated by the British Library, free and open to the public that wants to go and read consultare.Eccettuato a period of few months of 1972, the entrance to the British Museum has always been free, but some show temporarily separated from the main museum, calls for the admission ticket.
