Visit to the Royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea. London, United Kingdom
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (often abbreviated to RBKC) is a district of London which is located in the western part of the city center.
It was established in 1965 by merging the former Metropolitan boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea. The adjective Royal (royal) was inherited from the Royal Borough of Kensington which was conferred by Queen Victoria who was born there. It is a very urbanized. The population census of 2001, amounted to 158,919 inhabitants. The density (13,244 inhabitants per square kilometer), the district was the local authority's most densely populated of the United Kingdom.
The district is located immediately west of the City of Westminster, the true nerve center of modern London. The Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, for its part, is home to numerous museums (such as the Science Museum, Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum), universities, various embassies, department stores Harrods and many of the most exclusive residential areas of the city .
We especially were housed next to the Queensway via a neuralgic full of ethnic shops, within walking distance of Whiteley a shopping center that contains restaurants, cinemas and a place of Mark's and Spencer's and very close to Portobello Road home of the famous flea market on Saturday.
