I passed through the Occupied Palestinian Territories and, more specifically for the West Bank during my tour in the Middle East. I was carrying on board a tour bus, accompanied by a friend, a transfer from the Southern Dead Sea to Jerusalem. The road, among other things in good conditions and little traffic, entering the territory without your knowledge in this area because there are Palestinian towns and controls are limited. The wall separating the territories from Israel to the north. The first stretch of the road goes north along the northern Dead Sea, in practice a highly salt water lake and has no meaningful life forms placed in a deep depression that here reaches over 400 meters below the Mediterranean. We are at the lowest point between the land of the World and also the rocky mountains surrounding the lake and are completely bare, have their tops below sea level. It 's hot and rainfall is rare. The Dead Sea, whose waters evaporate and powered only by the Jordan River which in itself is little more than a torrent. The guide accompanying us, a young jew, makes us notice a line on the wall of a mountain, is the level that it reached the lake in the middle of last century, if drainage will continue the Dead Sea will disappear. At the end of the west shore road, turn right, as we move away you can appreciate the contrast between the lake waters of a turquoise color and almost the arid desert surrounding mountains. On the road to Jerusalem, the mountains give way to rocky hills and valleys wider. You can see some Bedouin camps with their poor tents, Jewish settlements in the distance and the biblical Jericho considered the oldest city in the world. There is also referred to the alleged location of the parable of the Good Samaritan, an inn, recently restored. Meanwhile there are new neighborhoods of Jerusalem, the city spread beyond the border with Israel. The border is very similar to our highway and overcome easily entering Jerusalem. The eastern part of Jerusalem claimed by Palestinians as their capital, but the Israelis have annexed their territory to Unified Western city and unilaterally proclaimed capital of the country. In fact we are so in Israel. At the end of our visit to the Holy City go back over the same route the first leg. (See itinerary on Israel).
