Our cruise ship has touched, among other ports, one of Kusadasi in the Aegean. Hence it was possible to reach the ancient city of Ephesus and in this case we preferred to rely on an outing held on board, because we are convinced that as at Pompeii, Ostia Antica or similar fantastic archaeological sites, tourist guide is a value added unavoidable ... at least for us poor ignorant!
However, Selim, the guidance that we have been given, was very prepared, but we did visit Ephesus to sprint to bring in to see an alleged sellout of leather. We protested and were able only to snatch at least half an hour longer at Ephesus on our behalf and we subsequently reported to our company, Holland America, the performance of our own.
With regard to leather jackets, one of the group take the bait buying a jacket for € 400 ... then we saw the bazaar for half, and every meal!
Returning to visit Ephesus and the beautiful restorations that Turks are carrying out for years together with Austrian archaeologists are "plausible" and do not seem to distort the original, unlike what we saw on the Acropolis of Athens. The Library of Celsus is incredible and emoziana know it was the third library of antiquity, after those of Alexandria and Pergamum.
The theater, which housed up to 25,000 people, has hosted many artists in recent times, until, during a concert by Sting in the eighties, there were some crashes caused by stereos too powerful and have since been prohibited artistic events. St. Paul speaks in this theater.
After the exhibition of leather, of which this area of Turkey is an important producer, we visited Mary's house, or at least, the reconstruction area where it seems that Madonna has spent the last years of his life, under the care of John the Evangelist. From here we returned to Kusadasi, where we separated from the group organized to look for a beach to walk and bathe. The sea was beautiful, but the beach, apparently reported it was more dusty than anything else. We have got to be very polite operators deck chairs and umbrellas and after a couple of hours we are back in the center of Kusadasi. The Bazaar has proved a great disappointment. At the restaurant where we ate a bad kebab, they tried to cheat us brutally. And the bazaar had nothing to do with the souk we saw in Morocco or in Cairo, it was just a resale of counterfeit clothes with nothing typical, and all, however, the son of globalization. A sin.
