At the reception, while doing the check-in with my two backpacks on their shoulders and camouflage shorts made cutting a mimetic I felt like a Vietnam veteran who came home ...

As in the American television series "Over There" the first thing I did after coming on in the room was filling the bath tub ... a sea of foam and hot water ...
I think we are immersed slowly as the paradise sometimes there ...
I was soaking only twenty minutes but I am for loading ...

Shortly after I was already in direct taxi to the airport to retrieve Nick arriving from Doha.

[Nick]: "Here I am in Abu Dhabi. And 'partridge make the flight alone, arrive in a new city without knowing how you arrange to arrive at the hotel at midnight ... luckily Mark was waiting for!
Tomorrow morning I wake up early and visit Abu Dhabi, where the evening departure to Dubai. Back to winning Mediorente! "

Abu Dhabi (UAE) 22/10/2009

The great mosque of the capital. What the Emirate had planned it to be even larger than that of Mecca, prompting protests from the Saudis that led to the downsizing of the majestic original plan ...
We tried to reach by bus, to the ridiculous price of 20 dirhams (20 euro cents), but three quarters of an hour later, noting that there was still a life to our destination because we stopped every 30 seconds, we jumped aboard a taxi and soon we are in the sight of this great wonder!

The experience of the bus I was surprised because I never imagined there was an entrance reserved for women and men and that half of them the other half was for us ... here's a great respect for women because they have priority and reserved seats everywhere ...

The mosque, "Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is very picturesque ... in order to access we had to fit within the white tunics and turbans ...
Inside was nothing left to chance, marble everywhere, mosaic flooring, decorative ...

As we walked away side by side with us a big mercedes conduct a boy in UAE white tunic and turban red ... asks us if we need a change ... I explained that we were going to the opposite end of town and ask him what he wanted to take us there ...
He is laughing and says he wants nothing ... accepted.

The kind Ibrahim demonstrates a great friend, not only brings us around for a couple of hours but when asked to visit the prestigious Emirates Palace, parking just outside the main hall while a long line of butlers looked perplexed us, even manages to make us get a look. This building is famous because it is the hotel where all the characters stay politicians or Hollywood stars ... That luxury inside, all in marble, were also of the Formula One cars on display in a showroom ...
Along some corridors were exposed antiques of Egyptian and Chinese ...

And to think that until the discovery of oil this was a poor desert area inhabited by shepherds and fishermen ...

Our lucky day does not end: we know a Somali girl, Sofia, works there as a hostess and hid us around the private parts to guests only, a private beach on board an electric car, one of those used in the fields Golf ...

[Nick]: "While we roam huge areas of the hotel for those traveling alone I think you make similar experiences ... It 's difficult to understand what drives a guy like Ibrahim to charge two people who do not know the road to bring the other side City by tour guide and not asking anything in return!
Review Mark for a new trip gave me an idea of complicity that I had a bit '... I'm like him, I really needed to go ...

To rest 'do a detour to a large Mall, there almost all the girls wear long black robes, often left only see his eyes, those eyes inquisitive and fascinated me ...

Dubai (UAE) 23/10/2009

The Abu Dhabi-Dubai trip, although very cheap, by bus, it was quite difficult ...
Almost four hours, seven roads that even if lanes were super busy!

The first impact of this Middle Eastern New York: skyscrapers and concrete everywhere ... The Burj Dubai, the tallest in the world with 700 meters high and 160 floors ...

We decide to spend the evening strolling inside the Mall of Emirates, "according to them the world's largest shopping center, big enough to contain within it a real ski slope!

Dubai so far seems to be a collection of malls, skyscrapers and mosques where the Emirate, as quatarini, scratching his belly all day and all work shall be performed by unskilled people from all over Asia!

Dubai (UAE) 24/10/2009

Morning around the neighborhood "Deira" first visiting an area that the Emirate has tried to maintain its original state, old, but in my opinion they failed.

From there on a boat "dhow" we crossed the river and reached the area of the souq.
Characteristic than gold, each window exposing bracelets, rings and necklaces in industrial quantities!
We held a long distance from Dubai Classic, one of the skyscrapers and banks and we ended up in a Bombay Arab! There were only Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis around us!

It 'been fun to see Muslims leaving the mosque ... all recovered his pair of slippers and pad wrapped under his arm, quietly walked away from the place of prayer!

And 'the afternoon when we decide to drop the "Burj Al Arab' seven star hotel the legendary also called" sails "...

Inside will be well enough to think that just wonderful to visit and need to book days before the visit costs 50 euros per person! But outside of that is nothing.
A bit 'disappointed we decide now to relax!
Pool, sauna, gym at our disposal! Sauna know Nelson, a 27 year old friendly Indian engineer who works here ...

We arrange for a ride in the evening ... then a drink in a pub that reminded me so much Cartagena: Western surrounded by prostitutes (African, Russian, Filipino ...)
