A trip to Ellis Island, the first stage for many emigrants.. New Jersey, U.S.A.

During a long tour of North America made with three traveling companions and to which I refer to its routes to reach two times New Jersey. The first ferry: departed from Battery Park in New York we entered the territorial waters of New Jersey dock at Liberty Island, New York State enclave surrounded by the waters of New Jersey is home to the famous Statue of Liberty. 11th September 2001 can not climb the statue, so we prefer to enjoy it in practice, watching the ferry from New Jersey. From here we share to reach Ellis Island, the island famous for its collection point for immigrants who reached the U.S. now crossing the Atlantic turned into a memorial museum. The island has been a long dispute between the States of New York and New Jersey but recently most of its territory has been assigned to it. State of New York has remained a small percentage of land inside the area where the museum is located. At Ellis Island, the old red brick building, thousands of migrants have transited mainly from so we can say that most of the inhabitants of the States have their roots on this island. Here the emigrants were kept in quarantine before being allowed to enter the country and someone was also rejected. In large rooms symbolically echo the voices of migrants, the walls are hung their pictures are displayed in showcases their poor belongings. After visiting the museum we left the ferry Ellis Island and New Jersey to return to New York in the homonymous state. During the short cruise to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, we observed the urban area of Jersey City that overlooks the Straits a few miles away. Jersey City while belonging to New Jersey is in fact a neighborhood of the "Big Apple" that also resembles a lot.
A couple of days after we passed through New Jersey during the transfer from New York to Niagara Falls. We drove down the highway in New Jersey with a rented car shortly before in New York. In practice we have seen only campaign and within hours had already left the state to enter the Pennsylvania Continuing our transfer to Niagara Falls.
